What you'll see inside an Olympic fencing mask

Yup, this is what you will see inside a fencing mask

I mentioned many times that I practice Kali (the Filipino weapons martial arts). Our variation is double handed, meaning we hold a long rattan stick with two hands. Now since we are allowed to trust, we use Olympic fencing mask. It's hard to see when you wear one, but it's a nice experience. And I feel cool when I wear one.

How do you parry or score points with that mask. You can't see!!

In my first match, I'm actually using my training weapon like a feeler. I mean I looked like a blind man feeling his way with a cane. And I think I know why fencers don't sidestep. You can't see what's in your sides with those masks.
