Just Kidding Around

We’ve been in Ireland almost a week now but it’s been pretty hectic and not always easy to log on. AND I have many, many negotiations to reply to but I’ll get there. We’ve had a few hiccups with getting our motor-home registered but it’s up and running now.
We’ve been able to make the acquaintance of our son’s four kids which has been delightful. They are actually goat kids before you start wondering how come we haven’t met them before. They are just gorgeous little things and great time-wasters.
Damian has made them a playground of sorts with planks to walk on and a sheet of plywood propped against the wall. At barely a fortnight old they love to jump up the plywood and slide down.
We’ve been to the Tattersalls’ Horse Trials at Fairyhouse (don’t the Irish have great names?) but I’ll write about that another time.

I am a bit surprised at how committed he is to their welfare although he has always been kind and caring. Damian is a jazz musician and plays bass. He would never have had the same opportunities in Australia and especially not in Western Australia. However Ireland's gain is certainly very much our loss. His wife has a lot of issues and won't fly so it's difficult for him to visit us. However we're getting to the stage where the trip will soon be beyond us too. However I guess things are evolving as they are meant to.

@TiarasOceanView That's our son and luckily he's been able to lend me a pair of rubber boots so I've been looking like an Irish farm-wife!!

What a great trip for you. So glad you have been able to go visit your son, who lives so far away. I visited my son this past week and a half, but he is not that far away.

@JudyEv I gave up traveling long distances. My last flying trip was not easy on me, so I have decided that I will not put myself through that again. Even short trips are not easy any more.

@IreneVincent It is a shame when we have to give up travelling.

Goats are great companions. They can be quite affectionate really.

We've had a nice time so far. In a few days we're heading north to visit friends we know from West Australia who live there (WA) but have a house here.

I guess little ones head butt to develop muscles and older ones to establish supremacy. They have a definite pecking order. One of the four kids is particularly affectionate and often climbs into your lap for a cuddle. They make great pets. Mine would shake hands, bow and roll a barrel. She was a great companion.
