Update : as you already know last week the sudden death of a judge happened in the neighbor’s house. During all this long weekend (Monday was a public holiday in France), I have cherished the hope that the dead was the drum player who was awakening me at 1 or 2 am with a drum solo generously offered to the neighborhood. My hopes have been disappointed today at lunch time when I heard the sound of the drums again.
Yesterday somebody dropped in my mailbox a «Filming information». There are many movies shot in this city. This one is a TV series «The Law of X », X being a name changing for every episode. The principle is to have a different guest star playing the role of a lawyer in each episode. The casting is against type. It is very weird to see famous French comedians like Gérard Jugnot or Josiane Balasko in a serious role. Victoria Abril was not bad though, but she has a wider répertoire. I do not know for you, but I would have no confidence at all in a lawyer having the face of a comedian. This time it is the turn of another comedian, Charlotte de Turckeim.
Never mind. The paper was saying that due to their «logistic» they were reserving a few parking spots from yesterday 11 pm to Thursday 11 pm and would have to block the street «intermittently». I am fed up, not only by their vocabulary, and I am not alone. Parking spaces are worth gold in the neighborhood. Last time they came in this street, they had omitted to warn people, and the trucks of the pond came during the night to remove the cars. A bit before Christmas they blocked all the parking places on the square down the street to put their trucks. The shopkeepers around screamed and complained that they were losing customers. They responded that they were spending a lot of money in this city, and that they would go elsewhere if people were not satisfied. I am not sure about that : they recruit about 200 bit-part players for 2 or 3 days, but they come with their material, including the restaurant and cook in their trucks, and I would bet that most of the staff is hosted in cheap hotels out of the city. The problem of this production firm is that they act arrogantly as if they were the masters of this city. We have some good film directors coming here and respecting people. This TV series is BS if you ask me ; their deeds should match their words and they should go elsewhere.
However I observed a fascinating performance through my windows this morning : one of their trucks was emptying the house of a neighbor on the other side of the street. It is a lawyer’s office, and I would have been the lawyer that I would have refused that. I hope that at least they did not moved her files... I do not know how this woman is good as a lawyer. I met several times her sister in another city. She is an architect, and famous somewhere, to have won a competition to build a vast hall between 2 public buildings. Her project was an aluminium and glass structure that was looking nice. Every element had been pre-cut according to her instructions to be assembled. The problem is that 10 cm were lacking finally. I will not tell you how people can be gross for a little error of 10 cm, and how 10 missing cm can impact the career of an architect. I digressed again, sorry. So, after they removed the furniture from the lawyer’s office, they installed new furniture for their lawyer’s office. I suspect that a lawyer working in a provincial city needs to have ugly furniture in a TV series, because they were really ugly. And because these people were blocking the street for their mov(i)e, the nurse had to walk and was half an hour late. I am asking myself if I should not write to a local newspaper to complain.
My last news will perhaps deceive you : my legs are really better now, so I will be less behind my windows, and you will get less news and gossips from me. But do not be worried, more gossips will come : I intend to give you a special news report about the dinner organized for the neigborhood next week.

@topffer You can bet that they will block the street again on Thursday evening. Very rude attitude. Can you send someone to check who is the drummer? It would be very bad to kill another innocent people by mistake. I am glad to know that your legs are better, soon you can ring at the door of the drummer, so you know who he is.

I wonder if all that goes on behind the scenes every time they make a movie in Paris - I do love to watch Paris movies, so please be patient with the film crews . . . . ummm glad to hear your legs are better and sorry to hear there was another shooting near Nortre Dame. I hate to hear they are targeting Paris - its my soul place.

Mr Bean is also Maigret? We have had movies with Gino Cervi who was also a comedian playing Maigret, and a TV series with Jean Richard who was more famous for his circus than for his roles. My preferred Maigret has always been Jean Gabin, but before him Albert Préjean was also a good Maigret.
I see that using people against type is a new fashion. Has it been inspired by the example of Donald Trump ?

@AliCanary Then you know well what I am speaking about : yes, a cacophony during the day. I have not seen a school band yet, but I do not despair. I am in the old center of a city, the streets are narrow with quite no parking slots, but there is a quite large car park near the high schools. You would think that it is empty during the night ? No : people are parking there to go to cafés and restaurants. Cafés and bars are closing at 2 am, and I have drunk people in the streets going to their cars parked near the high schools between 2 and 3 am. And sometimes a drum solo. I prefer to laugh about that.

@topffer - Oh goodness, what a cacophony! We used to live very close to my high school, and kids would park their cars all over our neighborhood. In the summer time, the high school band would actually practice while marching around our neighborhood, but my mom liked that. At least it didn't happen at 1am!

- Bad & sad news re: the alive drummer!
- What happened to that architect who had missed her calculation by 10cm?
- Congrats re: your health, does it mean that you could return to your digging again?
- Funny re: your comment about the ugly furniture...
- Is your nurse tall and gorgeous like a fashion model? If she is, the film crew might have let her pass thru easily (just wondering... )

After 3 days without having heard them, I have been very deceived to hear the drums again. I hope that the drummer is a student and will leave the neighborhood soon.
The insurance of the architect refused to pay. She found an accommodation with the city to fill these 10 cm differently. I do not know how she can have made such a mistake. Maybe because of the land register which is often wrong for old buildings.
I would like to participate to an excavation in July or August, but the nurses are telling me that I should better not for the moment. I will see what the doctor will tell at the end of this month to decide.

Tops if you were a Weekly Newspaper I would be buying it for sure.
Or if it were a Television Show I would see that instead.
Co hosting would be Debs as well to make it go even further.
Anyway I am really sorry that did not happen to the Drummer he must be made of good stuff.
How rude of those people to act like that.
They should have a few lessons in how to respect other people first and others might just be willing to lend them an ear and cooperate with them.
Also looking forward to hearing more news of that kind and so very glad that your legs have recovered no stopping you now then go tops go.

Sounds very interesting to have such people being around your area of town.
A lot of the people those Film Stars I mean look very much different than what they do on Television.
Some look better and well the others it would be kinder for me not to say.
Those legs were made for walking so go, go tops go.
Have to leave you now also as I am into a bit of Television gossip which I don´t take seriously of course.
Thank you very much for your special Edition much appreciated.
Have a wonderful day ahead keep us all posted please.
Looking forward to the next Episode.

@lovinangelsinstead21 When I was living in Paris I was seeing a lot of TV people in the streets. They are scarce here except during a movie festival.
I wish you a very good day with a lot of sun

I should better not start a tabloid magazine, I would be sued every week. My legs are going better and I have been ordered by the doctor and the physiotherapist to walk a lot to end the cure.
A special edition of my gossips gazette for you : yesterday evening, at about 6 pm, I was walking on my street to go to a public garden when I recognized the guest star of the TV series speaking with a man near the door of the house where they do the filming. The truth is that at 20m, I thought it was her, but more I was closer and more I had a doubt. Actors are often looking a lot better on TV than in real life. This one is a good comedian but she is really ugly (another trial expected soon).
I have not heard the drums during the night yesterday, but it is sure that the drummer is still alive. My hope is that he is a student that will leave soon as summer holidays are not far for students. I will know soon.

I wouldn't want a comedian for a lawyer either. Maybe it's supposed be a comedy show. But all that sounds interesting except for the drums at 1am.

Sadly the city officials probaly think its good for business for them to be there, so complaining wont do anything but make you feel better.

Blocking all the parking spots around a square just before Christmas was not good at all for the local business. The mayor has been sensible to the complaints and gave them only 2 parking spots for their trucks in my street this time. And for the first time I have received a paper in my mailbox from them. They improve a bit, but they are still a nuisance.
