How young is too young for a mobile cell phone?

When do you think it's the right time to allow children to have a cell phone? I think children should not have cell phones. In my opinion, the ideal age for the first cell phone is 15.

I totally disagree ! I think children should be trusted with a phone as soon as they show a sense of responsibility ! I have raised 9 children, and helping raise 23 grandkids, and all the ones that have phones, show a very good sense of responsibility, as far as the use of the phone goes ! And this pertains not only to cell phones but everything else also; autos, money, ! I can tell right away, who is responsible and who is not !
