What makes you the most impatient?

I was just joking around with @CoralLevang in the comments somewhere about how to make people around us frustrated or impatient. We were talking about paying for things with pennies, and then buying a lottery ticket to top it off, while the people behind us in line squirm. Of course, that got me to thinking about what things make me the most impatient overall during my day-to-day life. At the Chevron station, as I'm standing there with my pack of cigs, or maybe two Gatorades for a hike, it is that blasted person who buys a lottery scratcher, and then maybe two of those, oh, and one of the new "double your chances" one, and on and on. The words "poor tax" always play in my head. When driving, it's not just the texting drivers who wait about seven seconds before moving when the light turns green. It's also the people in the left of two lanes who wait until the last second before turning their left turn signal on, leaving you stuck behind them while traffic whizzes by to your right. In conversation, it's the person who never shuts up, and who never really listens to what others are saying, as he's too busy formulating what he is going to say next. When I helped host an open mic, it was the lounge lizard who would play "Piano Man" and think he was moving everyone to tears while actually putting everyone to sleep. Are there certain things that make you impatient? I'm sure I'll think of more.

That guy who puts his cash card into the autoteller, checks his account balance, cancels the transaction, repeats for 2 or 3 other cards, including getting at least one wrong PIN attempt, before finally putting the first card back in and withdrawing 10quid... All I wanted was some cash to save having to pay for my lottery ticket with coppers!

@TheHorse Like I was doing to the guy at the autoteller, as the rain ran off my hat and dribbled inexorably down the back of my collar...

I have been told I have the patience of a saint but I'm not sure about that. Lol. The one thing that does drive me crazy is when I'm late somewhere due to my husband taking his ever so sweet time doing everything!. Lol.

This is the short list.... Screaming kids in the grocery store line, out-of-control kids running table to table in the restaurant, noisy neighbors, people who are perpetually late to work, and my own increasing inability to open jars, wrapped food, or other tasks requiring not only dexterity but strength on my part. Why oh why did I ask God to give me patience back in the day, when I should have known I'd get countless opportunities to practice it in order to obtain it? Thanks for this opportunity to vent!!!

De nada. Oh, I forgot about the fact that I drop everything on the floor. I can still handle most packages, though I keep my pocket knife handy, just in case.

@TheHorse I've learned to keep scissors handy at home. Also a small pair of tin snips for those things encased in hard plastic. And pliers to assist in twisting off caps that are seemingly welded to the tops of Vitamin Water bottles. Tools are da bomb!

I always pray God will give me the longest patience because the bad behavior of some people would tempt me to explode every now and then. The reckless drivers, the noisy neighbor, the selfishness of some people and a lot of bad habits of others that are not easy to disregard.

I work at the turnstiles at the races, and get impatient when a woman who has stood in the queue for ages proceeds to empty her bag on my counter, looking for her money. She had plenty of time to get it ready before she gets to me. Of course the reason that there is a queue in the first place is because people like her have already held up everyone else!

I wonder why they don't understand that it's best to have payment ready. Are these the "swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool" people I heard about in an Austin Lounge Lizards song?

That is actually a good question. I guess what makes me impatient the most would be when i am driving and the car in front of me takes forever to move because they are so busy texting or talking on the phone. And when they take too long to move along other cars go ahead of us.

I have plenty of things that make me impatient. The one who waits to pay before has packed all the grocery in the bags. Those who slow down before reaching a street light, they pass, you get the red light. Those who buy grocery leaving the car parked on the gas station, so you can fill up your car... the list is long, very long.

I am glad I'm not the one who has to accept a ton of pennies from someone wanting to irritate me or other people in line behind them! (Walmart policy says the registers do not accept large amounts of coins. We tell the person with coins to go deposit them into the CoinStar machines found in the Customer Service area at every Walmart. I get to decide what is a large amount, not the customer.) I am also glad Walmart doesn't sell Lottery tickets or Lotto tickets! (Both those things annoy me!) My biggest pet peeve is the people who drive below the speed limit until they come to a passing zone, then they suddenly become Mario Andretti just to keep you behind them on the highway! I will pass them even if I have to drive 80 mph or higher! (I have been known to record their license plate number and report them to the police, too.)

@TheHorse The Andretti clan have a large presence here, or so it seems! There are also people who deliberately "help" the police by driving very slowly to get people to react with road rage here. Then, when the person they deliberately pissed off comes after them, they call the cops and hope like heck the cops arrive before the enraged driver can get to them! (I call and report people doing that, too! And yes, it happens here a LOT!)

What makes me very impatient is when i get stuck in traffic and cars cannot move but they have to honk to think they are doing something.
