Need some more advice here since all of you are so good at giving it! I am in the vacation mindset trying to plan a trip fpr the end of july. I am trying to book a mid-grade hotel in Grand Junction, CO (anyone been there by the way?) And having a hard time trying to figure out which site offers the best deals. Feels like theres a million out there. Hotels.com, Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, Kayak, Orbitz and then the individual company websites (and probably more that I failed to name) . I noticed on hotels.com a lot of their hotel reservations are nonrefundable (un-cancellable!) Whoch I do not like the idea of. What sires have you had luck with?

Oh yes. I did look but the area is kind of remote - either Moab UT or Grand Junction CO. (Have you been there by the way?) I am also thinking a hotel would be nice to have a pool and a complimentary breakfast the morning after. What can I say, Im a snob!lol

We've used travel sites to book flights and rental cars, but not hotels. Recently our daughter made a reservation at a condo resort in Myrtle Beach, SC for all of us on Mother's day, but when we checked in, there was a $70 tax fee. She was told on the web site that she was paying for all of it then. So be sure when you book that there aren't any surprise additional fees. We had a bad experience bookong a flight on a small company web site, so beware of those also.

Yikes! Thats not good at all. I would hate tohave that kind of hidden fee. Doesnt seem right. I booked the flight on Orbitz which I believe Ive done in the past. Hopefully it all goes smoothly, I am booking a hotel and renral car online next!

Usually I book from Ctrip and Agoda. You may not know well Ctrip but I think Agoda will be much more familiar to you. I haven't tried other hotel booking websites yet.

I use Booking.com to search and then I usually order from the hotel itself in order to get my reward points.

Oh nice. Ill check this out! I dont do hotels often but it would be cool to get some points for reserving it with this site. Have you ever redeemed the points for anything?

I prefer Priceline because of their customer service, ease of use, and the ability to pay with PayPal (guess where my myLot money's going this month!). I also use Hilton because I get great prices and points as a Hilton Honors member.

@maezee -- they're pricey (about $100 a night), but they are very clean, secure, and they really have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I've stayed in two Hampton Inns over the years and had my money refunded because of bad experiences. And that is over all of the Hilton chain.
