The Life of the Party

I now have a 9 year old granddaughter, and wow, is she something else! She is so full of life and energy!
She had a beautiful day for her party cruising the Hudson River around Manhattan with her friends, her brother, and a couple of his friends. She told me that Chalk of the Town provided tee shirts and they had 30 pounds of candy to share.
My husband and I drove to Manhattan the day after her party to visit on her real birthday. She loved her ribbon wrapped and boxed pile of cash we gave her so much, that before putting it into her safe, she counted it all. Her daddy will put her check into her college fund.
We took a lovely walk to a hibachi restaurant where we met her auntie and other set of grandparents. Although my granddaughter packed away two orders of sushi, she enjoyed the show, as we all did. She kept us laughing the entire evening.
It was a wonderful time to be had by all and a wonderful birthday weekend for that little life of the party. The downer is that she leaves for overnight camp in two weeks, and we won't see her most of the summer.

Oh dear you will miss the little Ice Queen won't you Dianne?
It sounds wonderful she had 30 lbs of candy to share wow!!!
And a big box of cash you can't beat that.

Wow this is the third year already that I remember her going off to camp, time is flying by. My 8 year old granddaughter is off to Mexico with her parents today for a week of excitement at a resort.

@DianneN I went a few times as a kid, and my older kids went once. I couldn't afford to do it more often than that. The boys enjoyed it, my daughter hated it!

@katsmeow1213 I only went for one month. It took me that long to get used to it. Both my sons went to overnight camp and had a love hate relationship. It depended on the counselors. My granddaughter absolutely loves it.

Where did you get all that change from - even one dollar bills? The little girl must have had a time counting it all. But did she count it right?

@DianneN It's so nice you have such a special bond with her. I have 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters and there's nothing like that bond between us.

@Marilynda1225 You are so lucky. I have two brothers, two sons, and my husband had two brothers. I was the only female until my princess came along. We have always been a closeknit and loving family, but there is something special about a little girl.
