Whew, what a scorcher today! We had a mid-day rain shower, which just made the heat and humidity worse. It's almost like being back in Florida....without the palm trees! Relaxing with a cool salad in the comforts of home, I'll present another one of my favorite songs with a number (an actual number) in the title. Here's the obvious selection of the day. #7: Rock Bottom, Pop. 1 - Robbie Fulks And Robbie will be back later in the countdown as a songwriter. What can I say? (Oh, wait, that's a Boz song. ) There's 50 million broken-hearted love songs out there, so when there's a new take on things it'll catch your attention. Here the alt-country great makes himself "king of every street that I walk down" in a town for the worst of the worst broken-hearted, Rock Bottom. Although he says the population is just himself, "you can make it your hometown no matter where you're from." But, of course, no matter how many people come to Rock Bottom, the population will always be one....because that's what happens with a broken heart. One of Robbie's early greats, he co-wrote this with Dallas Wayne, who also recorded it on his Big Thinkin' album.
