First Swim of the Season

The outdoor pools have been open for several weeks now, but I had to wait until I finish my treatments. I was done yesterday and in the pool this morning.
It felt so good!
The pool in our community usually opens at eleven. A retired friend of mine who is lifeguard certified made a deal with the homeowner’s association. She would lifeguard for free if they would open the pool to seniors two mornings a week. They readily agreed.
Anyone living in the neighborhood that is 55 years or older can frolic in the water from 9-11 for free every Tuesday and Thursday morning from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Last year we averaged six to eight people there every morning. Today there were five of us. I’ll go back to the Y in September but for now I’ll swim for free.

Sounds like a good plan, I could use the Y pool for free if I don't take exercise classes, it is part of Silver Sneakers.

@BettyB It is part of a medicare advantage program so they have it there but maybe your insurance isn't an advantage program. We had it with Connecticare and we now have it with United Health Care.

@BelleStarr I checked and while some insurances available here in SC are a part of the program, mine is not. As I get the insurance through my retirement, I can't switch. If I want gym membership I have to pay for it. I will, but I'm going to wait until September. I'll swim free for the summer.

If we have thunderstorms its usually in the late afternoon or evening. Swimming in the morning is usually not a problem.

Unfortunately our senior center doesn't have a gym or a pool.

With the weather beginning to heat up, it is a good time for a swim.

When I was working I walked in the evenings. I couldn't force myself out of bed early enough.

That is wonderful. You might as well take advantage of the free swim and this time of year it is so nice to swim outside,
