This is what this cat, seems to say.
It has rained during the night.
When I went in the garden this morning, I saw the cat hurrying out of our garden and back to the house of his owner.
A quick look was enough to see that "someone" had dug out a couple of gladioli bulbs, with my beautiful flowers attached.
As the crime had just been committed, I was able to plant the bulbs back in the soil and the flowers did not suffer.
I will keep an eye on this guy. I know he also steal the food of Willy and this is something Willy cannot stand.
Do you have to fight with the pet of your neighbors?

In my neighborhood all the yards are fenced in and most of them have dogs, my cats are indoor only cats so they pose no problems to my neighbors ....... however, there is a wild rabbit that has been eating everyones vegetables, since I don't have vegetables they aren't eating my plants, yet.

so glad ya found 'em 'n got 'em replanted, hon. ya can put mothballs'n yer gardens to deter the cats from enterin'. i'm sure there's safer methods?
my only fight the neighbors 'pets' 'd be those danged bees! i'm swarmed by 'em e'ery time i go outdoors 'n they seem most content not to jest follow me 'bout, but hitchhike from one place to 'nother.

@crazyhorseladycx Mothballs have been banned within the EU and here in Switzerland since 2008. They contain naphthalene and dichlorobenzene that is a neurotoxin.

@LadyDuck the moth balls don't harm 'em, they can't stand the scent 'f 'em. young'uns'n other critters though can be effected by such. if'n yer luck 'tis like mine, the cats's see such's a free shower, lol.
i ne'er consider bees to be a serious problem 'nless their those africanized bees. we'd those some years back 'n the slightest noise/movement'd set 'em off'n a frenzy, a stingin' one. wasps i could definitely live without 's i've a horror story 'f 'em.

Oh that look - the look of a guilty one for sure . Well good that your flower/bulbs were still intact - no harm done - this time. We don't have much of a garden, so there is nothing to ruin - but the neighborhood critters will come through our dirt yard because they like to. The worst they do there is poop .

@LadyDuck Surely the cats here have litter boxes indoors at their homes, but when they come out I suppose anything goes when nature calls. I do remember a neighbor had to put a fence around her flower section - there is a neighborhood cat named Tuna here that likes to roll around in flowers !

Well, if you look at it this way. In the wild that helps the flowers pollinate. Not so much in a garden because of tight space and so controlled.

@crossbones27 I love animals and you know I would never hurt one. This cat sometimes makes me mad, but I cuddle him when he approaches.

The cat looked as if butter wouldn't melt in its mouth.I guess the cat did it for letting its poop be buried under the soil as it is known to us here.

@LadyDuck Suppose Willy sees him appreciating his flowers. the other would not be ready for a duel? What is his name by the way?

@silvermist I do not know the name of the cat, I have to ask to his owner. Willy and this cat fight all the time, but not too seriously. They stay one in front of the other, fur up on their back, they hiss a lot and the other one runs away, while Willy meows to come inside.

Half of my neighbors have dogs, and half have cats. The dog owners do a great job of keeping their pets on leashes, but the cat owners just let their pets roam free. There are always cats on the prowl in my neighborhood, but so far I have not seen them do any damage to the plants and flowers in people's yards. Mostly they just chase the squirrels.

@LadyDuck All of the plants and landscaping in my yard are covered with pine bark mulch, so that also helps deter cats from digging in and around the plants and using the area as their personal litter box.

@moffittjc - The cats which roam free in our area end up being caught by coyotes. They rarely last very long. Even small dogs are in danger, so the owners keep them close ... and walk with golf clubs in hand.

@ridingbet I know that they do not like because last month I was watering the plants and I did not notice that Willy was hidden behind. I still remember how quickly he run away when he was touched by the water.

@LadyDuck and then it will rain. hahaha! there is a belief here that cats do not like water splashed on them because it will rain.

Not now but we used to live beside a house with a little dog that would bark forever every time you went past a certain part of the fence- very annoying!

@MarymargII This dog has finally calmed down, the owners of the dogs here know that it's up to them to avoid that dogs bark and annoy the neighbors. You can call the police if a dog bark all the time and if the owners to nothing, they get the dog and she/he goes to the shelter to be adopted.

@LadyDuck The one I was referring too- never stopped. It was so weird even when I talked to her through the fence so she's know my voice. She barked at us for many years

No, I do not have to fight with the pets of my neighbors. Willy, is a ginger cat of another neighbor and has the habit to spend the day in our garden. He is a cute sweet cat and when he can he always get inside from an open window. He does not like to see this other cat around, but they do not really fight. A lot of hissing and then they go each one their way.

What a beautiful boy he is! I never heard of a cat digging up flower bulbs. Perhaps it was a squirrel or other critter? I don't like him stealing Willy's food, but perhaps he is hungry, too.
We rarely see a neighbor's pet in our yard, but we have plenty of other critters here.

Cats dig up the bulbs, Willy also did last year, he dug up my garlic bulbs. There are no squirrels here and the hedgehogs do not eat bulbs. The cat is surely not hungry, his owner has 5 kids and they feed the cat all the time. It is the pleasure to come and try the food of Willy. They hiss a lot, but they do not fight a lot. Two silly boys.

@LadyDuck Doodles, nor my other kitties, ever dug up my bulbs. The squirrels have placed my bulbs in very odd places. I have seen daffodils growing in the woods and other odd spots in my yard. Lol! Glad there are no fights between the two male cats! Kitties do love their food! We found Doodles sampling my husban's breakfast cereal. lol
