Back to the Surgeon Tomorrow

It's been nearly three weeks since I had my hernia repair surgery, and last week at my post-op appointment I was told no further follow up was needed unless any issues came up. Well, I was feeling better and better with each passing day until that day when I foolishly squatted to take a picture. I didn't start hurting more right away, so I'm not sure if that's the cause of it. But this morning a different issue reared its ugly head. I was bracing my stomach with my hand while I coughed when I felt a hard knot just below the incision in my bellybutton. I never noticed this before, but now whenever I'm laying down or standing up I notice it (it's not really noticeable when I'm sitting.) Since my surgeon said it's possible I might get a hernia there, I figure it's better to go get it checked and make sure that's not what it is. I hope to god I don't have another hernia. I don't want to go through hernia repair surgery again! Anyway he's squeezing me in first thing in the morning, which means I'll have to get up really early to take the bus over to his office. I'm not really happy about that, since I don't feel up to be out puttering around by myself. Especially in this heatwave we're having. It's supposed to hit 110 tomorrow. Today out was already 90 by 9 am. Ugh. I don't want to be out in this heat! Plus I have another appointment with my primary doctor at 10:15, which thankfully my dad is taking me to. I hope I'm back from the other appointment by then! He can't take me to the early one because he will be working. Anyway, fingers crossed this knot in my stomach is just swollen tissue and not an umbilical hernia. That's the last thing I need right now!

It is common to get a knot right below the incision site, so hopefully that's all it is!

My doctor thinks its a seroma and that it will go away on its own. He's going to keep monitoring it though. Although now I discovered a very small lump along my groin line near where my hernias were, so I'm hoping that it's just a swollen lymph node or something not serious. I see the surgeon again next Friday and will mention it to him then.

@Srbageldog Definitely keep an eye on things and don't hesitate to contact your doctor if anything seems abnormal. It doesn't hurt to be extra cautions in these situations!

I agree that another hernia would be awful! I'm saying prayers that it will be something that's really nothing! And please be careful out there!

Thank you! My surgeon doesn't think it's a hernia but will monitor it just to be safe.
