I've a good news to share with you guys.. As I'm a Laboratory technologist, I know how to withdraw blood sample of adults but I never took children's blood sample. But in this month I learnt to withdraw kids sample and I did it nicely. .and today even I learnt to withdraw sample of a 7 months baby.. she was very good that she didn't cry at all.. aww so cute... (Pic is mine)

Yes, taking blood from kids is a tedious task and many are not brave enough to do that work. I have seen many nurses are refusing in case of children. May be they are scared. Only talented technicians and nurses will show willingness to tackle children.

@akp100 Yes, becuase it is difficult to handle. Many children won't sit properly or follow instructions.

@Sreekala Sit, they just start crying or doing odd behavior after entering into hospital or kind of lab.

Normally it can be quite difficult to withdraw the sample of a 7 months old. Congrats

That's cool. Doing this thing with kids is always difficult I guess. As they don't easily allow or cry too much. So you did good job there. Congrats.

Doing it on kids is really tough as their veins are so thin. I know because we have difficulties with our son's sample collection. Experts are needed. Glad you learnt that! :)

@HAPPSINGH yeah, it is. They have to prick many times for the blood. And it's painful. I am still not well.

That might have been difficult for you. I remember when a lab tech used to take blood sample from my kids ,they used to cry a lot which used to make them irritating.

Back in the day I did a phlebotomy course at my hospital. I did well with adults but not so well with kids until I was given a cream that numbs the skin...after that I did ok with kids too but they weren't my chosen area
