Does anyone want to have an intelligent discussion....

I'm hoping that everyone will read through these posts and add their thoughts and opinions to what's been posted.

We've had a couple good, thought-provoking questions posted in this discussion already. Why don't you read them and respond, see if we can't get a good discussion going!

Ahh...that's a good one. I would say that the meaning of life is live every moment of your life to the utmost, spending your time making a positive impact on the people you meet in an effort to inspire them to do the same.

I don't think we'll progress very far. It's sad to think that in a time when we have so much technology and so many people with exceptionally high IQ's and good educations that we still continue to behave in such a barbaric manner. I think we all need to realize that we're of the same human race and start behaving as though we all inhabit the same planet, not as just citizens of this country or that or members of this religion or that.

Sadly that's all too possible. I know that we all have common goals, wants & needs. I just think it's a shame that the majority of the people who really want to get along are being subjected to the pointless fighting because of a few.

yes so be it, i feel that sooner or later if we carry on the way we are going some great neuclear disaster or ecological catastrophy may well send us back 10,000 years or so from when we may well have to start again

Yes, it does seem that there's always a surplus of conversations of that nature.

Why don't you read through some of the posts on here and give your ideas, thoughts, opinions on what's been posted so far. I'd love to hear from more people!

same here...I only joined a few days ago and I'm finding myself having to search for decent topics and weed through the silly childish ones...I love to have deep discussions and talk about pretty much anything but politics LOL I'm NOT fond of politics AT ALL..

I think we all have posted pointless topics or have posted to pointless topics as newbies, trying to "get our feet wet." If you'd like you can add me as a friend and hopefully we can all get some good discussions going.

I agree with you. Earning is great, but I think we stand to gain much, much more by learning from each other. There are people on myLot from all over the world and we could learn so much from one another if we would just strive to have real conversations.

You make a very good point! I know many of my discussions have gone without so much as a single response, lol! What would you like to discuss? Feel free to post your responses to the other questions people have posted within this discussion.

I search, too, but it just seems like there are so many pointless discussions started that it can sometimes be a daunting task to find a good discussion. I like intelligent, thought provoking discussions where people really offer their opinions and insights.

Sometimes what I do when I search is, if I find one good discussion somewhere, I'll look at that person's other discussions. I also look at the discussions of posters who complain that nothing intelligent is out there just to see what they've posted about.

Great! Feel free to post something that you would like to discuss with everyone. I'm pretty open when it comes to conversation so post away on whatever strikes your interest at the moment!

I think there are many, many people here who are capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation. Why not give it a try?

Ahh...politics. Here's a question for you...what, if anything, do you think President Bush will be able to accomplish prior to the end of his term, especially given the fact that the Dems. have control now?

I know what you mean. I have friends here on myLot that can carry on intelligent discussions, but every now and again it's nice to hear from different people, too! Since you're the first poster you get to choose the topic of this dicussion, so...what'll it be?

I'm sure you've got more than one word to say on this topic. I'm waiting for the first poster to choose a topic, so in the meantime we're just chatting about the nonsense posts.

I'd like to think that with the technology it took to put a site like this together that we could make more of it than just simple chit chat. I think that with the global reach myLot has we could make such an impact on one another, getting to know more about other cultures, other peoples beliefs and opinions, that it may just make a real difference. What can I say, I'm an eternal optimist!

Unfortunately it seems that the same "nonsense" topics are posted repeatedly. What's worse, people continue to respond to them, over and over and over again!

I'm sure you have more to say than just that. Why not post in reponse to some of the questions that have been posted here already?
