Oh How I Wish I Was Camping

This is one of those rare, cool, clear mornings in eastern NC when I wish I had awakened in a campground instead of at home. This would be a perfect morning to sit under the awning, sipping a cup of coffee, and enjoying the peace of the start of the day. Instead, I am home and in a short while will be meeting one of my former colleagues to be interviewed for a paper she is writing in relation to her dissertation for her PhD. On the plus side, we are meeting at Starbucks. How do you plan to spend this last Tuesday of June, 2017?

We had lunch at the mall at noon, I had to buy some grocery. We have a severe weather warning from tonight until Friday, I wanted to be sure to have at home everything we need.

I hope the severe weather stays away from your area, but it's good to know you're prepared.

@LadyDuck Hail can be so dangerous and damaging. I'm glad it passed you by, and the flooding, too. I'll say a prayer for those affected badly by the storms.

@DWDavis Our area has been spared by the worst, no hail here and the streets are clean, but in many areas the streets are flooded and some villages had severe hail storms.

I did enjoy the coffee. I didn't get to grill anything, but I did cook a dinner my missus enjoyed.

So why doesn't she interview you at the Starbucks near the campground? Ungrateful former colleague!!! You'll be out there at the campground in no time, I hope!

My former colleague is also a camper, and if I had suggested it, she probably would have met me at the campground.

It is seven PM the day is almost over. We went swimming, two walks and went to the Farmers Market. Now we are home watching TV and I will fix supper when we get hungry.

Why don't you go camping? What's preventing you?

I had a meeting this morning and another Thursday evening. Also, the missus can't get the time off work. Camping is something we do together. We do have several more trips planned this year.

@velvet53 I hope you do get a chance. If not this summer, maybe in the fall. Fall camping is some of my favorite time to go. Days are still warm and nights are cool enough for a campfire but not cold enough to be uncomfortable.

I have gone camping once in July and now won't go again until Labor Day weekend. August just has too much going on.

Love the photo, never camped that far south but I imagine it doesn't matter where you are if you are with Mother Nature. I am painting trying to stock the store because I will not be back until the end of July... two weeks of camping and then visiting relatives in Vermont)

Vermont and New Hampshire are two of my favorite states to camp in. They are about the only thing I miss about New England.

@DWDavis I went to college for a year in Vermont and fell in love with the mountains, My husband is from New England and we have spent a lot of time there when the in laws were still alive.

How nice to be interviewed and at Starbucks, no less!!! I spent it walking, hanging around with Doodles outside, gabbing on the phone, and overseeing the installation of our window treatments.

My wife asks me each night before bed what my plans are for the next day. She can't stand it when I say, "No plans. Just gonna see what the day brings."
