Just Don't Call Me Grandma... I'm Not That Old You Know..

Exact words from the horse's mouse. Oops! Not a real horse, but from a woman who was accompanied by the little boy.
According to her, the word 'grandma' was too much and shameful. She would rather be called by her name than by the respectful title meant for people at her age.
Now, my question... Is this a 'thing' common to aging but energetic women who happen to have grandchildren. Do you feel ashamed when you grandchildren call you grandmother in public?
Have your say!

@TiarasOceanView I guess so. They happen to forget that none is immortal on our little planet.

Have to admit, my son asked me what I wanted to be called when his daughter was born and I said Nana. She's my only granddaughter and that's all I have ever been called, but if for some reason she called me Grandma... I don't think that I would feel ashamed. I don't see myself as a Grandma but if that is what she decided to call me... I am okay with that! :)

In India also it is the same problem. Girls get irritated if they are called didi meaning elder sister.
