Just wanted to tell you this, in case you don't know:
There is a limited amount of bitcoin in the world. When the last coin is minted, demand would increase so it would have to be divided into really small pieces in order to supply the demand for bitcoins. Like now, I think the ratio is close to $1 to BTC 0.0000001. That was just an approximation. But the good thing is that, unlike other currencies, bitcoin can be divided into really small parts that even though miners would stop mining, there would still be enough bitcoins for everyone.
Nevertheless, the time when the last bitcoin will be minted will be quite far. As the supply of bitcoins to be mined decreases, The amount of effort that is needed to mine those remaining coins would also increase. But then again, so would their benefits. After all, it would have risen to a really high price by then.

How is it going for you so far? I get the general idea, but I'm utterly confused all around.

It depends on which country you are from. In the USA, it is best to create account with Coinbase.com (similar to PayPal).
In the Philippines, we use Coins.ph to easily cash in/out.
Some countries do NOT support CryptoCurrency/Bitcoin
Here's the list of Bitcoin companies from wikipedia.

I first learned about Bitcoin from bitLanders. bitLanders paid members in Bitcoin before but since last year we get paid via PayPal/Payza.
I earned a total of 3.3 Bitcoin but I donated and had fun dressing my avatar and only cashed out around 1.8 I think. Bitcoin price at that time (2015) was only $200 plus but now it's $2,000 plus. Imagine your profit.

Bitcoins are real. You can earn real money through it. A lot of paying websites accepts bitcoin as payment now and I'm engage into some of those websites. But be careful in investing money to a bitcoin website coz some of them are scam sites. At first, they'll pay you but eventually they'll stop paying users.
My advise, if you are planning to invest on bitcoin sites, invest in small amounts and withdraw your earnings when you reached the minimum payout coz you'll never know when they'll stop paying you back.

@AnnaAutopsy Coinbase.com, Blockchain.info, Coins.ph, xapo.com are Bitcoin companies (similar to online payment processors), not an investing sites that promise to give users INTERESTS. Most scam sites are those who promise HIGH INTERESTS.
I prefer to buy Bitcoin & AltCoins (Eth, Ripple, LiteCoin, AMP, Burst, etc.) and keep it in what they call "cold storage" or Hardware Wallet like Trezor then sell them when prices are higher just like buying Dollars @ Php41 and exchanging it when rate is at least Php45 to Php50. My only loss is when I exchange it when the price drops, only brainless would do that. I am a "mathematician" (LOL) but I do that when I am cashless.
Investment sites example are BitBond and BTCjam. Read this:
We have prepared for you several websites which you can use for investment in Bitcoin. A nice short list for every investor.

I use Bitcoin as an alternative to PayPal.
We can send/receive $$$, £££, €€€, etc via PayPal. In the case of Bitcoin, we can send/receive Bitcoin and transfer to our local bank account automatic convert to fiat currency via Bitcoin companies available in our country. Some countries do NOT support Bitcoin/CryptoCurrency.
Here's the list of Bitcoin companies. Visit the site (it's similar to PayPal) available in your country and create account with them. I am from Philippines so I am using www .coins .ph and you can't use the same site if you are in India but I think Thailand can use it. Wirex is in UK but is available in many countries except USA, India, etc. I have wirex too but a local Bitcoin company is the best so we could cash in/out easily.
Open main menu Search For non-profits, see List of bitcoin organizations. This is a list of for-profit companies with notable commercial activities related to bitcoin. Common services are wallet providers, bitcoin exchanges, payment service providers[1] an

It's VERY hard to explain because I'm just starting to learn about it myself. So far it's like an online currency that's worth more in USD and you can exchange it for what it's worth in USD. It's very strange, I've heard of it before but when I saw that people had them on Listia my curiosity went crazy. It's really interesting but I'm still reading more about it and watching videos of people explaining it and how it works.

I bought some bitcoins 19 months ago on the advice of my son , who s very positive about it's impact in the coming years. Ever since I have been reading up any information that I could get hold of on the net and from what I see it will be the future currency and most financial institutions world across are wary of Bitcoin and crypto currency in general and tend to downgrade it because of that.

That is definitely believable. I saw that the current value for just ONE bitcoin was nearly $20,000...That's insane!

I've heard about that, I wasn't sure if it was true or not. Thank you! If you know what Listia is, that's where I found them. They give away only 0.1 or higher but not a full bitcoin. I got 0.0001 last night and that's only $0.25 cents so far. I'm going to keep looking into it and trying it and post an updated discussion once I've learned and experienced more with it!
