The healthy diet and exercises are so important. But actually the real reason of having the diabetes is not found out yet. As some Olympic athletes are also diabetics. So it is hard to explain why they will have this disease because they exercise a lot and they also pay attention to the diet.

My mom is a diabetic and has high cholesterol. She eats brown rice, more veggies, fruits, less meats, more fish, no coffee nor tea, drinks milk, oats, herbal tea and less biscuits.

Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables especially whole ones may help to avoid diabetes. Apart from these meditation, exercise and yoga plays a key roll.

Water is definitely a plus. However, as with health overall, diabetes must be treated from the whole person perspective. In my case, and emotional episode will run my glucose levels higher than a candy bar would. Physical activity is a necessity as well. It is not only useful for lowering glucose levels, but it also improves oxygen circulation. As far as healthy snacks, you can not go wrong with walnuts, almonds, and cucumbers.

Eat fruit,, I live with someone that has it. The main problem for them is over eating. The snacks are sugar free.. and not enough exercise.

Low fat foods actually have more sugar to offset the taste, so be wary of low fat

Carbohydrates must be controlled for a diabetic person. They need to eat complex carbs. Exercise is most important

Healthy fats from nuts, olive oil, fish oils, flax seeds, or avocados.
Fruits and vegetables—ideally fresh, the more colorful the better; whole fruit rather than juices.
High-fiber cereals and breads made from whole grains.
Fish and shellfish, organic chicken or turkey.
