Breastfeeding shaming

Having my son has made me more aware of this, not that anyone has said anything to me, but you definitely notice the looks you get when you do it in public. Let me also state that depending on where I am I may cover slightly, but usually I'm cautious of making sure I keep as much nipple flashing to a minimum. However my son hates having a cover over him while he wants, and I completely understand. Could you imagine covering your whole face while you ate!? I also completely do not agree with people expecting you to take your baby to the bathroom to feed them! Honestly if anyone ever told/asked me to do that, I would simply say, ' the moment you take your meal and eat it in there I will take my son to feed in there!' The most shocking and in my opinion sad....well infuriating, is when other mothers breastfeed shame you. You are a mother yourself how can you judge or shame someone for doing what they feel is best for their baby! PEOPLE THIS IS WHAT BOOBS ARE FOR! Breastfeeding is natural and that's what boobs are there for. It is more acceptable to wear lowcut hair let there clothing, exposing your breast, but heaven forbid I use them for what they are for! I feel like North America is very frigid when it comes to this. While I feel it is way more accepted back home in Canada then the USA. I feel every step forward certain things take huge steps back. People stop being afraid of boobs and breastfeeding! It's natural and beautiful. And please don't think that I'm shaming those that choose or can't breastfeed, basically if you are doing the best you can for your children then a you are amazing. Has anyone else experienced shaming like this?

This reminds me of being on a train with mom when I was about 7 in Germany. There were 3 women in the same car we were in that had large gray panchos on and I could hear this sound coming from underneath so I asked mom what that sound was. She simply said it was the sound of a baby drinking his lunch. I really didn't understand it back then, but this was in 1958 and what the heck do kids know anyway, right?
