Holy Mold

United States
July 5, 2017 5:45am CST
When the hubby tore apart the floor in the bathroom he left a gaping hole. The moisture from the leak had caused a lot of damage. And of course with water damage comes mold too. My allergies are so bad today. I can barely talk. I have a sexy raspy voice today. Yay me. Friday will be challenging due to the fact that I have a client who is a a germaphobe. She will probably cancel my visit when she hears my voice. I am also coughing from the post nasal drip. She will fear that she will become sick herself. It will be a bonus if she cancels. I would love an early start to the weekend! I have told my husband to spray a mixture of bleach and water to the area to kill off the mold. Hopefully he will do that before he ventures forward. I can't keep getting sick because of mold. With the help of a decongestant and allergy meds, I am determined to make it through the day. Should be an easy day today with the exception of my first client. 15 cats! Add a cup of cat dander to the mold dilemma and I am doomed.

I hope for your sake, that he prays down the area with a bleach solution to keep your allergies at bay. Water can do so much damage can't it?

@ElusiveButterfly Good luck! I saw a show earlier today about people bothered by mold, they suggested putting some mint essential oil in hot water and breathing that in.

I think I heard recently that bleach DOESN'T kill mold, but don't quote me on it. I'd still bleach the heck out of everything, though. And the mask thing might be a good idea to adopt at home until the mold question is thoroughly dealt with.

I was reading about something that Home Depot has to treat mold. It is reasonably priced so I will give it a try.

My clients rarely cancel. This one has bonded with me and looks forward to my daily visits. I can understand her need to have cats as she lives alone. They are her only company. However, I leave there not feeling very clean.

Do you mean your first client has 15 cats? I hope you are not allergic to cat fur.

One of them got out yesterday so she is now down to 14. I am not allergic as far as I know. However, the pet dander isn't great nor the smell from the litter boxes and other places.

@ElusiveButterfly I can imagine that the smell is not pleasant. My mother in law had two Siamese, my husband was pretty sensitive and he said the room where they stayed smelled bad.

@PainsOnSlate he finally got the valve on the tub to stop leaking. He is not a plumber, but a Jack of all Trades at most.

Oh, you poor thing! Mold is very unhealthy to breathe in. I hope your husband wears a mask, and that he rids your bathroom of it entirely.

I barely made it through the day. Fell asleep in the recliner when I got home. Little Miss sat right next to me and let me sleep.
