Do Your Rooms Have Certain Themes?

My bedroom once had a definite "theme". I called it my Tanzania room and had it decorated in a breezy mix of greens and browns with leopard print accents. There was the lazy ceiling fan, many plants and fringed lamps. I loved it - for awhile.
Slowly I started changing it deciding I needed new prints and a splash of red. I am in the process of redecorating it now with no "theme" in mind but a definite plan. My walls are being painted a light gray and I replaced the heavy wood headboard with a black upholstered one. More red, less green. More bold, less subtle.
Maybe we just change as we age. Maybe we just need a change every now and then. I remember in my younger years I was crazy about sunflowers in the kitchen. Yuck. And roosters. I still like roosters. Do any of your rooms have a certain motif? Do you ever change the decor?

Eleven years ago I deliberately tried to make my living room look "Golden Girls"ish. I had a pink flamingo lamp with green yarn for hair. But about six years ago I moved to a different apartment in the same building, and went a different way.

Yeah - it seems like a good idea at the time. Changing apartments makes it easier to change.

@jillybean1222 I loved it. I even had a phone that looked like the old fashioned kind from that time, and a bamboo rug.

no ma'am, no themes here anywhere. an acquaintance 'f mine years back lovin'ly called my place 'early barn'. such's filled with antique oddities, lots 'f dark woods, western relics 'n native american artifacts.
my momma 'n the aunt 're constantly changin' their decor 'n such drives me a bit nuts. i grew 'p with such 'n perhaps that's why 't bothers me?? but, i say do what pleases ya :)

It's been about 20 years since I've changed things. Figured it was time. Early barn sounds pretty good and rustic.

It doesn't take much either. It's amazing what a can of paint can do. Have fun!

No, as we aren't allowed to paint or wallpaper them.

Wild animal pictures are cool. When my room was "Tanzania" I had some elephant and zebra paintings. I still have the elephant because the colors blend with my new idea.

Probably better that way. I have no theme in mind either this time.

@suziecat7 Most the pictures on my walls are of ships but not because I want a ship theme. I just like those pictures. I do not live in a house similar to Mark Twain's house.
