Eggs Are Binders

July 9, 2017 6:34pm CST
Eggs, in baking, are used to bind everything together. That's why sometimes you'll see the word "binder" in instructions within the pages of a cook book on baking. At least, that is what a friend has recently told me. I love to bake, so it's nice to learn more terms about it. I probably should've known the word already but I'm new to baking. I'm thinking about posting some of my recipes up here eventually. That, or use them for a book.

@kiran8 Oh! I don't believe I've tried the mashed banana yet. I've been meaning to though. I know the peanut butter makes it sweeter. Does the banana have any effect on flavor too?

You can use peanut butter or apple sauce in place of eggs, if you don't have eggs.

I didn't really know that word but I have heard it before. I don't bake much but love baked goods. You bake a lot indoorotaku?

oh yes! I got into it around last summer. Since then, I have slowly been learning new things about baking. It's even given me a channel I like to watch on TV now! (Usually, all the other stuff I want to watch is on Hulu). I like to make chocolates and use jam injections. I also like to use peanut butter instead of egg for a fig-newton style cake I'm working on a secret recipe for.

@TiarasOceanView That's just what I call piping jam into baked goods. Like how a person fills a jelly doughnut.

Welcome to myLot! Please take time to read the Community Guidelines (a.k.a 'rules') and the other pages you will find under "Help" in the menu under your username. While it is perfectly OK to have a discussion about cooking and baking, you should note that just posting a recipe is not allowed (and certainly NOT anything which is just copied and pasted from another website).

Oh, that's a good information to know. I like baking too and this kind of information is very useful to me as I'm just a beginner.
