Do you think music lyrics are best understood when sad?

Of late, I've been listening to "dreamers", by Savoire Adore. I like it very much because, I understand the lyrics. However, I am not always sad. Personally, I think a song's lyrics is best understood by me, when it connects well with my emotions. In that case, I try to compare my feelings to the words in the song, and by so doing, I get to understand the lyrics better. What of you?
