How much water is too much water?

I am clearly addicted. Especially in the summer months, I drink at the very minimum 4 liters of water but usually upwards of 7. It just tastes so good to me! And I do work out if that makes a difference about 6 days per week. I have heard that you CAN drink too much water but Google searches have not helped me clarify how much is too much. What do you think? How much do you drink?

That does seem like a lot of water. I thought I drank a lot, but that's only about 1.5 litres

Thats good. I think the old saying was 8 glases a day, but I am not sure what that equates in to ounces or liters.

@maezee depends on the glass,but I think a standard glass is about 250 ml, so that's about 2 l

Although 7 litres does sound a lot, I guess it depends how many hours you take to drink that much.

Like the entire day? Which I am usually about for about 18 hours of it. What do you think?

@maezee That's a long day. Maybe it also depends how much physical activity and perspiration are involved as well.

Like you I drink a lot of water, I know I probably drink way to much. My husband and mom actually get after me about it. I have drink upwards of almost a case a day of 16.9 fluid ounces at about 30 bottles a day. Yeah I know. I normally put some in the freezer and let it freeze a little and just go thru them without even thinking really. I have to take Potassium and a few other things because I have diluted my body so much. So today (since I have felt so crappy the last 4 days) I decided to try and slow it down. No freezing and I think I only went thru like 12 bottles. I figure it is a start. I just love water. I used to be addicted to pop and then got off that but went to Rip its, a energy drink. Gave up that and went to water. I'm addicted to my drinks it seems! I have also tried to research it but came up with nothing really!

I drink approximately a gallon a day. I didn't think you could drink too much water.

More than 8 Glasses of water is not advisable. Of course, it depends on the weather also and the amount of workOUT you make. This is the general rule.

Ok. And what about on extra hot days? I sweat a bit during these times so I know Im losing a bit of that excess water

Well, staying hydrated and working out are great ways to stay healthy. Here is a quote from P. Syrus I found which sums this topic, "Good health and good sense are two of life's greatest blessings." You seem to have both. By the way, I found one source that says for women 2+ liters is sufficient but that is not taking into account your activity level. DB

Nice. 2 liters only! That seems like hardly anything!

@maezee I'm sure you can drink more as necessary since you workout so much and especially if there is a heat wave. My body seems to know when I need to drink more and I am dehydrated especially with the current heat wave were having. 95 degrees today.

Water tastes great to me too! I love being thirsty from physical activity and then drinking water. I don't think you have to worry about drinking too much water if you are feeling thirsty though. Drink as much as you want. Sometimes I drink 4 cups in a row! lol I always seem to get super thirsty in the evenings too, and then I have to pee several times through the night.
