Favorite Mission Songs #6 - "Amelia"

Rather than a theme, this particular music countdown celebrates my favorite band, The Mission (known as The Mission UK here in the States,) with #6, "Amelia."
The opening track their 1990 album, Carved in Sand," "Amelia" defies the band's goth roots with one hell of an angry song.
"Amelia" is an anti-incest tune that focuses on a daddy that continually molests his little girl.
As I said, this song is angry. Vocalist/guitarist Wayne Hussey sounds extremely PO'd as he sings.
Forget goth, "Amelia" aims for the back of the stadium, showing The Mission's habit of leaning towards arena rock. Call it a serious song that deals with a very serious topic.

Definitely a subject matter that you don't hear on a daily basis.

That's a topic (incest) you don't hear about in music every day.

Yeah, I can think of a couple child abuse songs, but drawing a blank on other incest songs.

Terrible subject for a song. I will listen later when I am at the computer.

True. Don't know if it was somehow personal to Wayne. But not the type of subject that you hear on a daily basis.

A rough disturbing theme. Apparently the band got no credit for tackling such a subject. It they were Ed Sheeren or Lady Gaga it would be headline news.

I know. If they had done it, they would be on every talk show. This song didn't even come up when Wayne and Craig were interviewed on 120 Minutes after this album's release.
