National Ice Cream Day- Yea

I don't need a ice cream holiday to tell me to enjoy a delicious sundae. However, it is nice to know we honor it with a special day.
What's your favorite place to enjoy an ice cream treat? For me, I go to a place called Hoffman's Ice Cream which has been around for years here in Southern NJ. My favorite order is Brownie a la Mode with hot fudge and whipped cream on top. Oreo ice cream is another favorite. They have many flavors to choose from and the ice cream is creamy and tasty. The only drawback is during the summer time the crowds are out the door. It seems everyday down the New Jersey shore is National Ice Cream Day!
By the way, here are some of the establishments which offer ice cream deals today: Dippin Dots, Carvel, McDonalds, Friendly's and Tastee-Freez to name a few. Maybe one of yours is on the list?
I noticed another My Lotter, Abby posted this holiday too. Kudos to her for being an ice cream lover and also mentioning this holiday!

My favorite is Dairy Queen hands down in most places of the country.
But the best and there is only one I had ever visited was in MA. It is called Hodgies 2.

Dairy Queen was always a favorite treat for me growing up. There were very few specialty ice cream places back then so it was either DQ or Carvel. I do remember getting a few carvel birthday cakes in my youth.

@TiarasOceanView I don't remember ever having that flavor ice cream. I've had malted blizzards before but not ice cream. Intriguing enough to try that one

We don't really go out to go get ice cream, we just have occasional tubs at home and just get a bowl a few times a week.Dippin Dots are really nice though. The last time I was out for ice cream was getting a blizzard from Dairy Queen because my boyfriend never had one before.

@dgobucks226 It is a lot more fun going out to have ice cream, especially when it is a place like cold stone, I love cold stone haha and yes he did, it was the new cotton candy blizzard.

I think the experience of going out for ice cream in itself is a special treat. And who doesn't like to treat themselves to something fun and tasty to boot Did your boyfriend enjoy his blizzard? Thanks so much for sharing

@DesirousDreamer Boy, that's a flavor I would like to try! I always wanted cotton candy as a kid when I would go to a carnival or the boardwalk at the shore. And cold stone ice cream is the best I would always get the cheesecake flavor waffle cone, yum

Okay, seriously, another late night and now another craving! Don't have a national ice cream day here, but so should. I love choc mint ice cream or vanilla dipped in caramel or yeah, a hot fudge sundae. @dgobucks226 , I say again, no fair!

The Dairy Queen banana split has always been a favorite. I haven't had one in quite some time though.

A triple decker... now that sounds perfect this afternoon. Sadly, I've already had my sugar fix for the day. I will save this up for next weekend!

Probably a safe bet you are right about that statement. Ice cream at home has some advantages: costs less and no lines

@dgobucks226 Absolutely! No lines, and it costs only a fraction of the other way to order ice cream.
But the best part is that it doesn't melt so fast either!

@marlina Isn't that so true! I stopped ordering an ice cream cone and switched to sundaes for that reason. Less of mess on me

I try to limit my intake of ice cream to once or twice a week. That way it's still a treat and the really good thing is I don't have to worry about gaining weight

@dgobucks226 I used to like Baskin Robins. And I still do but I've found something so much better. Cheaper ice cream and much tastier ice cream. It's called Cold Rock and what they do there, is they smash in your selected lollies / chocolates in with the ice cream.

Ice cream is big here in Manitou as well. Even shops that normally wouldn't sell it sells it.

@teamfreak16 Same by me. It's like waiting at a bakery, deli or movie line for tickets here.
