Jodie Whittaker has made history as being the first female actress to play the role of the science fiction television series Doctor Who. Whittaker will succeed Peter Capaldi as the next Doctor Who. The announcement who was going to be the next Doctor Who came after the end of the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Whittaker is best known for her role on the television series "Broadchurch" where she worked with Chris Chibnall who is now in charge of the British science fiction show which believe it or not I have not really heard of that much since I remember the action adventure television series "The Avengers." Now do not get me started on the movie of the same name since I was shocked at the changes that were made from the television show to the movie format which had me knowing how a fish feels out of the water.

@TiarasOceanView I know what you mean since anyone who griped about the minority characters in "Spider Man Homecoming" was called a snowflake or a whiner.

Somehow it seems wrong to have a woman playing the role. Gallifrey was populated by both male and female, so it is illogical for one of them to change gender. I felt the same way when the Master became Missy.

I know what you mean but the entertainment industry is shoving political correctness and diversity down our throats these days.

@Deepizzaguy This is not so much a case of Politically Correct as just ridiculous. I would be happy to watch a film about a female secret agent, but not a woman playing the role of James Bond.

@Asylum I agree with you. Create an original character like I did with the Isthmus Sisters and Panama Squirrel.

I think it's an intriguing idea. We'll have to wait and see.

Something new for the show for some fans and political correctness for other fans of the show. I am neutral on this one.

I have seen Jodie Whitaker in movies and she made little impression.

I know what you mean when television shows have to be politically correct these days. It ruins the shows.

Gallifreyans don't seem to be the only species in creation that are not coded male or female their entire life (convenient link stuck at the end for those who are doubting me). I think is very interesting how many people expect the doctor to act like a human when they clearly are not. Diversity is important in all sorts of shows not for political correctness, but so that little children who are different can look on screen and see people who are like them.

Very true to see characters of different races.
