Limited Edition Gold PS4: Is It Worth It?

Having already invested in a regular PS4 I had no interest in the gold version. I upgraded the hard drive on the PS4 and haven't had any issues with it but when I saw the gold limited edition version on special for $249.99 I couldn't pass it up. I think the initial hoopla about it made it a 'must have' system because of the hard drive size and color. Outside of that, there aren't any major differences. If you are a Lego fanatic and collected any of the faux metallic swords or pieces of armor chances are you had that same feeling of dread when you saw the gold sheen. If you are going to use this I strongly suggest you get a top shelf controller skin. The cheaper ones could end up peeling off sections of the paint when you remove it to clean it. The sticker price on this varies from store to store; if you see it for more than $350.00 you are getting ripped off as there are still plenty of them on the market. Likewise, if you see them selling for peanuts beware of the 'new / box' scam. You might think that means “new in box” but it really means “new box” so all you will be getting is an empty box. Sites like eBay did crack down on that in the past when there were tons of PS2 and PS3 scams but every time there's a new release there's a new scam to go along with it. The only time I would ever tell someone to buy one of these is if they wanted a PS4 but never got an original or they catch it when it is on sale. If you already have a PS4 but want to save this to resell for a profit you might be waiting a long time for the price to appreciate; no one knows exactly how many were manufactured or more to the point the number that were released to the general public. I wish I could afford one of those. I have just a regular 500GB one, but we bought a 2TB external drive. I love my external drive. I am getting into gaming more and hoping to earn some money to keep me going.

That's a pretty good deal for one of these.
