I am a Christian. But not your ordinary everyday holier than though Christian. I do believe in God and Christ and I have faith. But I take from the bible what speaks to me personally. You see. people tend to forget that the Bible has been written and translated hundreds of thousands of times and you know that everything changes in translations. They all mean well when translated, but everyone who ever translated the bible will translate it to what it means to them. It is a book filled with contradictions. But I love reading it. Like I said, I take from it what benefits me. I also am open to other beliefs that people find controversial such as Wicca and Paganism. I did my research before learning to understand it. It is hugely misunderstood and mostly because those who think these are evil practices have never taken the time to learn about them. Anything that promotes goodness towards others.... I'm in! I did write an article about Religion and Spirtiuality and if you are interested in reading it the link is below. I write articles on that site but I do not profit from that site. I hope you enjoy it. :-)
Religion and Spirituality in society have often divided many people and Nations. Humanity often feels strongly that their belief system and the higher being that they worship is the true religion. But often we fail to see just how alike every religion or s

You made a valid point in your article and I totally agreed with you; Christians have come to raise a standard where everyone don't really know what they believe anymore. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you Obanro, Not only do they not know what they believe but in their confusion they also feel that whatever they do believe their belief is the only way to go. They shut themselves away from other beliefs and possibilities.

I read your article and I certainly agree with you that there are commentaries here and there and of course things are preserved in part or in a different way because everything in the eyes of the beholder means that each person sees the things in front of us in a slightly different and therefore the same story sounds different from one person to another that tells it.

Thank you! I think people get too caught up in their own world sometimes and forget that it's ok for others to have their own beliefs and that those beliefs are just as important to them. It is all about respecting each other's differences. :-)

@MistyckMoon You are so right, how long will it take humanity to learn to respect the difference, or live and let live, How many more people will die because of their other faith or religion or is it just that they are from another nation

I agree with what you say and I find different religions and spiritualities interesting. I like to think about the similarities such as the golden rule. It also makes sense that the Bible is complex, unique, and important book full of knowledge and wisdom. It was written by men and inspired by God so it is going to have great information but also be imperfect. It is also practical to interpret it in a way that makes sense for today considering that it was written so long ago and times were different then. I like anything good and I will use what good I can get out the Bible.

That's one reason why I often say I am a Christian of many different beliefs. I believe in whatever means something good to me. But regardless of religion it all boils down to one thing.... treating each other with respect, believing in something greater than ourselves that elevates goodness, peace and love in humanity. It is all about knowing right from wrong and trying to live a morally good life.

This once I had come across a line or two that talked about the Bible in the light of what it meant and what it didn't. There was this particular line, "The masters who taught me divinity told me that biblical texts were highly untrustworthy." This probably meant (and as you have also outlined in your post) that because Bible had been passed down for many centuries in the hands of countless men (yes, men!) who were either well intentioned or had a propaganda to fulfil, saw and translated the texts as they pleased. There have been many books of Apocrypha.. and such texts that are rendered useless in front of various sects of faith. And so there has been a constant stir between various groups. To see a faith, one must make it as their own. They must have good understanding, if not good intentions, and have a questioning mind with a willingness to open and accept things that are bound to change. Faith is the ultimate weapon and without it we are just sheeps that have strayed from their path. Amen!
