Halfway through the countdown, and we'll pause for this commercial message. Oh, wait, these are all commercial messages! Here's another song that found its way into a commercial at one point. #6: Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller Band The United States Postal Service decided it had money to blow, so why not give it to a guy who sold over four million copies of the album this song was on in order to use the song in a commercial? Hey, he's just a poor starving musician, so help the kid out! And, honestly, while the Post Office was trying to present itself as quick and mighty -- "fly like an eagle!!!!" -- the humor of the eternal wait on the post office to deliver your mail reinforced by the song's opening line, "Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future" was lost on the people at the Postal Service who picked this song. I enjoyed the unintentional joke, however. And the song is fabulous. Fly Like an Eagle Written by Steve Miller Recorded by the Steve Miller Band From Fly Like an Eagle, 1976 Used in US Postal Service commercial, 1990 Feed the babies who don't have enough to eat (just don't send it via the post office! ):
Fly Like An Eagle Steve Miller Band another video creation.

Heard that song on the radio today. That album had some good tunes on it "Take The Money and Run, "Jet Airliner" "Rock N' Me" to name a few. Weren't they all from the same album?

"Jet Airliner" was on Book of Dreams, but "Take the Money and Run" and "Rock'n Me" were also on Fly Like an Eagle.

I do remember this commercial. The irony was lost on me at the time, though, I'm sad to say.

That's a great song. I can see why the Post Office would use it
