Dog days

China
July 22, 2017 5:27am CST
Over here ,it is dry and sweltering hot summer and the hottest days of the year now with the temperature hovering around 37C recently. The weather service says there will be 40C in store for us. I am really wilting in this heat, however this is a busy month for me.My wife went to her father's -about 125 miles away from us-on 29,June.It was her turn to attend to her father for one month.Every day I have to have it in mind what vegetable I will buy from grocery and how to make a three-course meal (lunch) for my granddaughter and I ,among other things. My granddaughter is very particular about what she eats, which is a tough nut to crack!

We are also having our hottest days, but this year we are lucky to have night showers time by time. I am sorry you have to take care of cooking every day for a picky eater.

So she has been gone your wife for nearly one month now? That is sometime my friend. I hope it is not too much for you to find things to make for your picky grand daughter. When will you wife come home? How old is your grand daughter? It is quite hot here as well my friend.

I am glad to see a post from you . I hope all went well for your wife's trip to her father's - and I hope he is doing good too. Is your wife back now? It has been hot here too - but I am surprised it has not been hotter (that will probably come later). Right now it is only 8am, but I feel the warm air already coming through the windows - it will be a hot day. Ah, I remember you said your granddaughter was a picky eater. But I am sure she survived the month . My kids can be picky at times too. Since they are home from school, they have enjoyed many days of having somen, cold Japanese noodles, but we know noodles alone are not nutritious. Now I make a meal and tell them they can choose to eat it, or eat nothing at all (which is what my father would say) .

@changjiangzhibin89 Oh, I'm sorry - I thought I responded to this before! It must be a relief to have your wife back home now - I'm glad all went well! Next week my kids will be starting school again . . . I don't know what to make for their school lunches anymore. Perhaps I should pack them some birdseeds (I have not posted, but my daughter has gotten 4 parakeets) . . . and tell them if they do not like that, then perhaps they should eat and appreciate whatever is given to them .

@much2say Thanks for kind words! My wife has been back home. She stayed there for 32 days and everything went well.Unlike my wife,I don't pamper my granddaughter that much.I often tell her that she has to eat whatever I made.Of course ,I always do my best to make allowances for her taste.

@much2say That is ok!My granddaughter are on summer vacation and she will start school on September 1.I do feel as if relieved of a heavy load, after my wife was back home. Oh,your daughter has 4 parakeets, which surely brightens up her life.

I had to use a converter to see what 37C was, wow, that is hot. We actually had a very mild summer, not good for someone who loves swimming and prefers the hotter weather to swim in. I hope it starts cooling down soon. My neighbor's father is elderly, so once a month they will travel up north to spend time with him, alternating with his sisters. I don't know how many miles, but the drive is long, at least 4 hours. As for your granddaughter, that sounds typical, children today are so picky, aren't they?

37C is a non-standard spelling,It should be 37 degrees centigrade, equal to 98F .Now It has cooled off a bit.My wife cares for her Dad once every two-three months. She stays there for one month each time.

That's so hot in your side. Here it is about 30 degrees It seems that tomorrow it will rain and therefore the temperature will drop down. I understand your feelings. In these days since my mom had the cataract surgery, I hope she will have a good rest at home. So everyday after work I go to buy the food in the market and then make a nice dinner. I'm proud of myself because I can still finish it well and quick. Of course I depend on some modern cooking tools such as the electrical pressure cooker. And when I run out of inspiration, I will go online to check some nice recipes.

I can relate with your granddaughter so picky. My daughter was like that too, when she was still a kid and even when she was already in high school. She was thin yet seldom gets thin. I have a hard time too, thinking of what the helper will cook that she would like to eat for the meals.

@SIMPLAYD Yes,most kids are particular about what they eat,but we don't let things take their course when it comes to my granddaughter' eating habit, sometimes we force her to eat what we think are beneficial to her health.

That is hot, is it also humid? I like the heat as long as the humidity is low. I too am a picky eater, I prefer healthy foods rather than fast foods. Does China also have restaurants like McDonalds?

I am surprised @changjiangzhibin89 .... I probably should not be though. I used to like Kentucky but I do not anymore and I never eat at McDonalds. I have decided cooking my own food is healthier.
