Flying is sometimes referred to as a job where you battle against the mighty sheer power of mother nature, as for any pilots, to me it is also about respecting the mother nature. Flying through the clouds is not a new thing or something that has to be really scared off, but there are times when you really don't understand what the aircraft is actually doing when you experience immense up and down drafts. There are days when you hit the serious turbulence. Yesterday was my day, heavy rain, thunderstorms and lighting, I had no option other than follow my route, deviation was not possible because of heavy traffic, for around twenty nautical miles, I had least control over the aircraft at 10000 feet. Finally when I saw that blue sky at a distance, that blue was beautiful than ever before, a cloud of hope and joy. To all of you flying around in a metal tube, I wish you all a safe journey always

You a pilot! That's great. (*_*) take care my friend. And don't slack off, many lives depend on you, I guess. So be safe and happy flying. (*_*)

this might sound silly, but do/can you get any warning of approaching turbulence, or does it just hit you from out of nowhere?

I'm sure it's challenging, but also very rewarding for you. I hope the weather will be nice during my flight next week.
