We all know about the real Titanic and about the movie, too. Maybe it is the best known film from all the times. What is interesting, is that 14 years before the maiden voyage of the Titanic, a novel was written about a ship of the same name sinking under similar circumstance.

The novel was called Futility by Morgan Robertson and was published in 1898. It was reissued after the real disaster with some modifications. There seem to have been quite a number of uncanny coincidental similarities but the author, apparently, denied any clairvoyant powers.
