Voluntarily right now, of course. They make it easy for the employees to do everyday tasks like operate the copy machine, buy snacks, etc. No more passwords to remember.
Would you do this? Do you think it will become standard for general society? Yes, I know that something like this is referenced in the Bible but this is not intended to be a religious discussion. There are so many drawbacks to this I can't think of them all! The only advantage I can think of is security and convenience.
Don't you think people would tend to overspend with these chips? The retailers would love that. So would the banks, as chip wearers find themselves deep in debt and needing loans to pay off their credit cards. Make purchasing easier and people will buy more things!
I wonder if they can be hacked? If they can add programming? Add medical information capabilities? It's a pretty scary development to me. I would never get one of these, how about you?

I totally agree. I'm sure there will be ways to turn the chip on and off, otherwise the company would not take the security risk. If the general population gets it, the controllers can cut off their retail privileges for any reason--an unpaid ticket, bounced "check", or even in incorrect political view.

I would never let anyone put a microchip in me for any reason. I know this isn't a religious discussion but the Bible is my truth-so nope would not happen.

I agree, Jennifer. This is a subject that can be discussed by anyone but I agree with your views and there is plenty of scripture to back it up. The Bible has been very prophetic over the centuries. Even if I did not believe, I would say no because of the control the government would have over me.

Oddly enough, the radio pronouncer was just mentioning this...
I wouldn't do it. Heck, I don't even have a cell phone!

I have a cell phone but not a smart phone. Basic cell is as far as I'll go although I sometimes wish I had a smart phone. They've found that smart phone users generally rely on it for everything and let it do their thinking for them. I don't want to do that and I surely would! Nope, no chip for me, either!

This is the end for sure in my mind.
Total domination really.
Well I wouldn't want it for me.
But I have a feeling it is coming for all.

I have that feeling, too. I think it's been coming a long time and they are making it seem innocuous, just another way to do business and improve our lives. I will never get one.

Nope, it's just a neat new thing that makes everything more convenient. That's how people think these days.

It would be total control. Have a renegade political opinion? Well, then you can't buy at this store or that--or maybe your privileges are cut off completely! Owe the IRS? They'll take everything, forget the payment plan to pay gradually. If the gov't doesn't like the way you vote, watch out!
No, no way would I ever get this. I know it just states it's one little company but this is the beginning, throwing out something to see what sticks. And I can almost guarantee you, it will stick and it will become popular.

I would have nightmares of someone cutting my chip out and using it to drain my accounts and/or sewing theirs into me so I would be convicted of their crimes. The thing is, "voluntary" policies at work are not usually voluntary or if they are, they don't stay that way very long.

I would not want anything implanted into me. I'm pretty sure that you're right, it won't be voluntary for long.

no and thank goodness i will likely be gone by the time it comes to needing it to survive. because we already pretty much have to have a computer or device online to survive most things.

That is so true. I find myself shut out of a lot of activities and bargains because I don't have a smartphone and that's just one example. I hope I'll be gone, too, by the time it comes down to accepting a chip or starving or living "underground". I truly believe that time will be soon.

A serious violation of civil liberties - where is it predicted in The Bible? @dragon54u

In Revelation, the last book of the Bible, it says that near the end times no one will be able to buy or sell without "the mark of the Beast" on their hand or forehead. Lots of people thought that it meant bar codes when they first came out while others thought it was the Social Security number. But like I said in an earlier discussion, the Bible has been changed so many times that it may not even have said that in the original text.

You have some interesting questions here! Can these be used to control behavior? It is all creepy and very 1984 to some of us.

I don't see why they could not insert some programming in there, some kind of electrical impulse to deter or encourage certain behavior. Yes, it it creepy and it's even creepier that people would willingly submit to that kind of invasive technology.

Lenore, considering what's been going on in the White House since the 90's I've been creeped out for decades! Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. This has been slowly introduced for a generation, priming us for individual chips. I'm not paranoid if they really are out to get me!

Good, but you may not have a choice in the future. Are you old enough to remember when cell phones became popular? The phone booths disappeared and if you did not have a cell phone it was very hard to make a call away from home. Apps became popular and now it's hard to save as much money without a phone. There are all kinds of programs and surveys that can only be done through a cell phone app. And it will only become worse. I have to drive to the bank to deposit a check whereas a smart phone user can just take a picture of their check to deposit it. Smart phones are creeping closer and closer to being unavoidable and we all let it happen.
I will never have a chip. I will resist as long as possible then die rather than have it. Which isn't as drastic as it looks because I only have a few years left.

@Courtlynn I have a flip phone. I don't see the sense of anything more than that- we like the phone for safety, the just in case scenario now that we do not live right in town.

@dragon54u i will always have a choice. And im pretty sure they wont be doing those til my kids have kids. But if they do, ill still have a choice.
Theres plenty to do without a cellphone. Most businesses will let you use their phones for one. Most games i play dont involve apps.
Yes people can dot hat with their phones but doesnt mean they HAVE to. And theres plenty of non-smartphone cellphones still out there. You don't need to have one.
