How do you heat your house?

We have a gas furnace that we try to keep on 72 degrees. We have a gas fireplace in the living room. I don't want to pay the high gas bill for running either one. How warm do you keep your home? Anyone have information on how to turn the gas fireplace to a wood burning fireplace? Can it be done safely?

We have electric heat. We have had wood burning fireplaces in the past and although they are nice to look at they are a pain in the butt. We normally keep our temperature (year round) at 70 degrees. We got into the habit when my niece was first born and the doctors said to keep the house at that temperature. As far as converting...I have no clue :-0.

We have a wood fire in our house. I live in Tasmania in Australia so it only gets really cold for a few months of the year. I would like to get a heat pump though as it is getting a bit much bringing firewood in all the time. When we lived in Queensland, we didn't have any type of heating (only air conditioning for summer)

We have central heat. I try to keep it around 72 degrees as well. That seems to work out ok during the day. At night, I turn it down to 68 so that we won't get too hot upstairs while we are sleeping. I have no clue about the fireplace. We have a wood burning one, but I have never once used it!

We have a heater at my house, but we live in a city outside of Los Angeles, CA, so it does not get very cold here.
