Continuing on in my travel theme - in 2012 I got to experience Las Vegas Nevada.  The few days I spent were largely taken up with dance workshops that I was there for.  However I did get to see the fountains at the Bellagio which was an amazing experience - a free attraction set to music and lights the fountains put on a dancing display of their own.  However, don't go thinking that food will be cheap as I did.  Fast food meals cost in the neighborhood of $10-$15.   On most blocks there were people dressed up, sometimes in rather shabby costumes, and sometimes in much nicer costumes -- I saw many Elvis, showgirls, cat woman, along with more specific characters such Homer Simpson and Bert and Ernie - the latter of who offered, on my first day there to take a picture with me.  I said yes.... and they didn't leave.  Finally Bert had to tell me that they do this on a tips basis.  Duh.  Seeing as I only had $20s - which I thought was way too high, I didn't tip.... so.... sorry Bert and Ernie wherever you both are today.  Oh course the afternoon we were leaving I saw a poster for an "all night 80s dance party"  totally me.  Vegas I wanna come back and experience the pawn shops off of the strip, the gondola ride at the Venetian and see the area outside of town in the desert.   Here's the Bellagio website's page about the famous fountains:
The most famous performer in Las Vegas, tirelessly thrilling crowds with show after show, each one as magical as the last.

I got married in Vegas back in 1972. There weren't all those hotels they have now. It would be nice to see those fountains. They've been featured on many shows that have a Vegas theme to it.

@FayeHazel It was, but I was to young to do anything, so all I did was take a lot of pictures of the various hotels on the strip.

@just4him Oh dear. :-) I suppose there is an awkward age -- too young for the kid's arcades, but not old enough to do the other stuff. At least plenty of things to take pix of

Oh wow! I'm sure that made for an exciting wedding location. So much to see and do there. I hope you get the chance to go back and see the fountain, it really was spectacular :-)

I've been to Reno and Lake Tahoe in Nevada, but not Las Vegas. I did see the real fountain the Bellagio copied from the one in Madrid and went for a real gondola ride in Venice. My older son's bachelor party was held in Vegas and one of the dinners at the Bellagio. I'd like to visit the pawn shops, too!

@FayeHazel We travel a lot, but with the way the world is, we are staying close to home, at least for now.

I had never been to Las Vegas. It sound like a lot of fun Faye, but I had a friend who goes and told me that food is indeed a lot more expensive than it used to be. I hope you get back one day. I did win a trip once and had a choice between Vegas and Lake Tahoe. I chose Tahoe.

I don't blame you there either, Tahoe seems indeed more relaxing. I had heard tales from people who had been to Las Vegas some 40 or 50 years ago - I guess at that time really good food was cheap - as the casinos would use it to lure people in ... not so anymore....

@Courtlynn And that's ok too. :-) A lot of my friends travel more than I do. It's alright with me. There are a few places I would really love to see - sure. And online friends I would like to meet, of course... but other than that - why do I want to spend a lot of $ in some place where I am likely to never return to...

The food is indeed expensive. The way you have described your visit to Las Vegas it seems to be so much fun. I hope that you get to visit again

Thanks! I had heard tales of people who went, like 50 years ago - and at those times I guess the food was cheaper as the casinos wanted to lure people in with good, cheap food and then they gamble. Not anymore though

I have been Vegas too many times to count and once lived there for a time so it's old hat to me.

@JohnRoberts Oh wow. I didn't know the 2 were so close. But I can see where it would loose it's winter appeal. You probably have similar climates, unlike here (MN)

Oh yeah! Count's Kustom -- I think I know who you mean, works with cars, right? And the restoration program - I think I know that one too, though I also can't think of the name.
