Happy to be off the highway

Lots of brightness out on the roads today. Temps probably hit 94 no problem. I first drove hubby to work then room mate and I headed an hour and a half north. She needed to have a check up on her neck surgery. Me? I wanted to go visit the big city with its stores and cafe for lunch.
It felt good to get out. I returned with about 6 more pounds of cherries cause they were on sale and we were out. Its getting toward the end of cherry season so grab it. I visited a second hand store and found a padded folding chair for hubby. He wanted one for the shop that he is making. And that hanging floral glass bird waterer. Had to have that.
We had lunch in a hippie kind of cafe. The wooden chairs were painted in mismatched bright colors. I had a tuna melt and gads where did they get the bread? Huge. Just huge and very tasty.
We drove by two enormous and so gorgeous fields of sunflowers. I slammed on the brakes and gawked for a moment. Total joy in all that yellow orange.
I am glad to have hubby home, supper eaten and cool air wafting over me. Soon I need to get up and haul a water hose to the raspberries etc. but for now....cool air. No highway.

Sounds like quite a day. I don't drive any more and used to always take the back roads. Not into crowds on the road or off.

@celticeagle I wish there was a back road here!! I love to drive those and am with you all the way on hating congested highways- a huge consideration when it comes to which airport I will use or not.

@celticeagle Spokane airport- I can take a back road for about half the drive. Heading toward Seattle I can drive a back road for maybe 30 miles, other wise, its I-90 and the more you head toward Seattle, the more OMG traffic.

@andriaperry: maybe just eat most of them as tasty snacks. Just last week we froze bags and bags for winter fruit.
