I love it when a publisher leaves a feedback

Yes, another publisher rejected my work. Nevertheless they left a nice feedback and some helpful comments. Yup, I do need to check my tense, and that would be helpful when I submit a new story. They just left an instruction on how I can grow! I actually replied with thank you, and hopefully I would have better luck next time.

No matter how harsh it it, feed-backs are gold!

Is it a "vanity press" place?

Nope they're not. I could tell because they don't ask for a reading fee and the high rejection rates prove they are serious with stories. They also pay writers a small amount. It is a short story magazine and I could give the link if you like.

@Mamerto32 A vanity press will take drivel and nonsense. I have read some of it. A real publisher has standards and won't take anything below the standard. They might give you a chance to fix it and resubmit.

@akalinus thanks! And if they are a vanity press, they will not reject my work in a jiffy.

That is a good sign. Most send a reject slip without a comment. When you start getting comments, you know you are on the right track. Don't ignore those messages.

@Mamerto32 I remember the first comment I got from an editor. It was for a poem and said "sorry." My writer's group said that was good. The best one I ever had was for a writer's magazine. It was a humor piece on why editors reject a story. They told me that it was not right for the magazine but "you had to be there when I read it to the staff."

@akalinus that was indeed very helpful of them, as if they left clues for you so you will improve!

Comments are goldmines for me. They don't mean you are terrible, they just want something to improve. I'm now applying those feed backs in my flash fictions, and later to longer short stories.
