Thank Goodness For Gift Cards And Swagbucks!

So tired of being hungry and tired due to no food.Too hot to haul a food basket home. I had cashed out on SBs back on Friday. I put it on a PayPal gift card. But, SBs said it would take 10-14 business days. Ugh! I figured that with Murphy's Law and I being so close that I probably wouldn't get it on my PP account until after I got my pension on the 1st. Not really happy but such is life. Figured I'd save it for the end of August when the cupboards get bare again. Well, today I got a pleasant surprise. I went and signed in on PP. Come to find out it had been put in my account. Yah! So I had my daughter go to the store and get us some food to see us through the next five days. Thank you Swagbucks!

@celticeagle I generally make about 50.00 each month there and I am on that site too long too often to get that money.

@sallypup I used to earn around that amount as well there when I spent time regularly and was always making the daily goals.

Don't they have a food pantry nearby where you can get some food to carry you over, it is awful to be without food and the means to get more. Are you not eligible for food stamps? I'm sorry I don't mean to be nosey I just thought we had better safety nets in this country. I know our town has several places where you can get food help.

Many. We utilize them nearly every month too. It has been too hot. You see my daughter takes her backpack and some plastic sacks to bring it home in. But it has just been too hot for her to do that. We are all on medications and the heat really affects us. It's been in the 90's with a few days in the triple digits. It tough to get around when you don't have transportation or people who will take you.

That's wonderful! The end of the month is tough. I was calculating in my head today about how many groceries could I get with 18 dollars to last until August first. I'm just not sure.

so glad for you. i know what that is like. especially if you can't just go fry up some bread or cook some beans like i could before i got disabled. now the first of the month is roughest for us cause thats when daughter has to put all her check in on rent and most what i have left goes in on rent. i get paid mid month and back when i was paid the first i never thought the day would come i would be wishing and waiting for the middle. sometimes it seems like you are just wishing your life away only to eat these days

@bunnybon7 .....With my hip I can't go up and down the stairs to the kitchen. So I have my daughter bringing me things. If she is manic she takes forever and forgets. So I am in pretty much the same boat as you are. I have some snacks up here but hate to eat sugary stuff early before breakfast or dinner. It does get old. And I have the same account issues you do too. That's why I was so jazzed when I was to get that gift card into my PP account earlier than I had expected to.

That's for sure. No matter how much we seem to buy groceries are usually gone about 10-14 days before we get paid on the 1st. In those many days my daughter usually goes to get a food basic at the one of the places here close. But it has been so hot she hasn't wanted to this month. So, we pretty much starve unless I can come up with a way to bring a few bucks into the household. It really gets old. I go from having breakfast and dinner and then a snack late in the evening to maybe some rice.

@celticeagle there was a time i could really stretch things when i was able to cook. but now it is so much harder. daughter cooks some but she works so much that lots of days it is toast here and hopefully a can of something in the microwave. often i end up worrying i will have nothing in my account to survive till paid. when i do have energy seems nothing is there i can cook

I don't know why it would take so long for SB to put your money in PayPal. When I cash out it's there the same day. I'm glad you were able to get enough food for five days.

Same day is really instant. They take a few days for me, but never more than 5 days. And never had problems redeeming either...

@just4him Could be... although I receive the payment in USD since my PayPal account has both USD and AUD currencies.

@sishy7 Maybe it's the currency rate that takes a while to process to PayPal. I know I've never had a problem with it.
