I will have to be quick about it

This is just a post to greet you good morning. I am about to hit the road to pick up my sister for an x ray and urologist appointment. Too much info? Maybe. She had a kidney stone last year.
Not only do I have to drive 45 minutes to pick her up, I have to stop along the way and call her to make sure she gets up.
I choked down some toaster waffles with peanut butter and a cup of coffee. I pack snacks for me since I am diabetic and know I will need to eat mid morning. I am not taking my tablet, but I am taking magazines and a book to read.
I am looking forward to celebrating with hubby tonight, since on Wednesday he was released from physical therapy.
Today we have sun, but I hope it does not get too hot. I will see you around.

I am assuming she doesn't drive? I have had several kidney stones since moving south. I truly believe they were caused by well water.

You could be right about that if the well water has a high mineral content.

I would be scared to have her on the road, poor vision. Also not enough money to have and do upkeep on a car. She does not drink enough water and the urologist says primarily the type of stone she has is related to the amount of salt she puts on everything. Plus she is diabetic. I lived thirty years in the community where she is and have no kidney problems. There are certain veggies and greens that increase sedimentation, but he told her to have dairy products with them and then the calcium will bind with the oxalates. and flush out. If she is told to do something she ALWAYS does the opposite. I was in the appointment six months ago when he told her these things.

@BarBaraPrz I went 53 years with city water and never had one. Moved south to well water and a year later had my first one.

@TiarasOceanView That is a problem for diabetics if they do not eat.

I took reading materials and it seems when you get to specialists they see you promptly.

My day went smoothly. As is the case when we age and do not make always healthy choices, she has some problems. She will end up having surgery as an outpatient next month.

Oh, he was home all the time, but working full time and then scheduling all his PT around his work hours. It was very tiring for him.

She has made poor choices, and has poor health. The brats are her daughters who cannot or will not make time to care for her. They almost never offer or visit with her.

A lot of people get them. Drinking lots of water helps. I have not had any.

@GardenGerty I only had once, not a big deal. Only uric acid stones form in people who do not drink enough. I had cystine stones, they are mainly a hereditary disorder, this causes the kidneys to excrete too much of some amino acids. In fact both my mom and her mother had kidney stones several times.

@LadyDuck This has not been a problem in our family, hers is diet and hygeine habits.

Why are they doing an xray now? If she had the stone last year?

It was a six month follow up because she never passed much of the granules after her lithotropy. She has a new and even bigger stone.

It does indeed. The appointments went well , but as is often the case, one appointment leads to another.
