Ride with Me - I really would like some company with me today as I make a mobility scooter run around the area. Not much room on this little scooter, but we can share what little bit of sitting room there may be here - and we can surely share some of the viewing along the trails and pathways. You can tell what you are looking at in the picture, but, no matter that, I will tell you what it is that you are seeing there. That hardware dial shows how full (or empty) the scooter's electric-storage batteries are at the moment. No battery juice - no scooter ride. Such is the way scooters are. They do have rules to go by as well as trails and pathways. So, off we go. Now, there's a strange sight to see at the height of super-hot summertime - a trailside tree whose leaves are already turning to bright red color. Oh well, trees may not be the brightest critters in the world - but here we can see that the leaves of this tree are making up for the lack of brain brightness by producing lots of leaf brightness. The little squirrel atop the fence rail took one look at us putt-putting along the pathway and said, "See you later. I am O-U-T of here." Now look there - a whole bunch of mushrooms, some more of those pine forest kind of mushrooms - not the sort that you slice up and put atop your lettuce and tomato salad. Hah - there's that "Pine-o-saur" we spotted on an earlier scooter run. From the look of him, he has turned into a stone statue - but why take a chance. Away we go - and fast, too. You know what looks pretty to us scooter-riders? Those tall clouds and big green trailside trees. From the shape of that tree, it is one of those "Sweetgum" trees. We'll check it out when we get closer to the thing. Interesting... How did that yellow flower escape the lawn mower blades the last time the grass chopper guys came around? Sure is a pretty flower. There are plenty of really short flowers in with the grasses, but this guy seems to be the only tall flower around. Now, there is an interesting tree. It has lots and lots of small, round fruit-looking things hanging onto its branches. I wonder what kind of tree this may be??? No critters seem to be eating these little round fruits, so I guess we should maybe not taste any of them either. Had enough of a ride? Me, too. Image - Scooter Ride - Gus Kilthau

Thank you. I also have a mobility scooter and absolutely love mine. Mine saved my life. I have to transport suitcase because I sell things so someone made an attachment for the back of it. There was a box back there and the box was not good and ruined my seat. I enjoy in summer riding around on my scooter. Mine is a one seat person. Even though Gus I did not ride with you on the tour but along side of you on my scooter I enjoyed the tour. Thank you.

@Hannihar - Ms Hanni - Your mobility scooter looks as though it has a canopy. I need to put a canopy atop my own scooter so as to protect against the hot Texas sun. For that, I believe that I might put up a solar energy panel (to energize some lighting and a passenger-cooling fan). Also, a very loud warning horn would be fun to have aboard the scooter. Additionally, I plan to build a small trailer with which to carry stuff behind the scooter - like, perhaps, one of the great-grandkids or one of the little dogs - or maybe some packages - or a bodyguard to keep the pretty girls from becoming overly aggressive ( ) -Gus-

@Hannihar - Ms Hanni - Fortunately, my Grandson-in-law, a great mechanic, is going to help with renovating the mobility scooter. I will work on the ideas and he will do the mechanical work on the machine. Parking the scooter is never a problem- I have a spot for it in the front of the covered driveway (our carport). To recharge the batteries I have to drive it to the back of the house where there is an electrical supply port. More than likely we will be purchasing a new or a used flat-bed wagon to pull behind the scooter when we need to carry bulky items. It will be similar to the small wagons that people pull behind bicycles. Mostly I just drive the scooter within this large forested development to pick up our postal mail, visit the central office if we need something from them, go to the recreation center (swimming pool, exercise room for people and an exercise yard for pet dogs. and lots of sightseeing on the trails and nature pathways. For "deer-watching" and "bird-watching" we can stay right at home. The critters all come to our place to eat the corn (maize) and the "salt-lick" block we set out for the deer and the wild-bird seeds left outside for the birds, squirrels, and racoons. All too soon this development will be filled with houses, but for now it is largely forest and field - mostly pine trees and giant oak trees. -Gus-

@Ceerios Gus what you want to do sounds great. Did you see my attachment on the back of my scooter. I am sending you a picture now. What I want is some way in winter to keep warm and a way to clean off the rain dripping down on my plastic. In summer I am fine with the wind when it comes to blow my face because no plastic. I love taking the plastic off. Sounds like you have great plans. Do you build things yourself? The canopy is my roof and I love it. Some have called mine a catallac. I love mine. I go right up to my building and have no trouble finding a parking space. Do you use yours often?

@TiarasOceanView - Sharing the "Lousies" are we? Today has been somewhat of a bummer here, too. On days when it is really hot and when there is a lot of junk in the air, breathing is a toughie. I guess that such a day is good for the lung spray manufacturers. People must be getting into problems with "high blood pressure. Doc renewed my meds at the pharmacy - and the one I have had to take forever (and it may be the most common of the generics) was "out" ). They told me they have been trying to get that med for months now. Sounds to me like the pharmacy screwed up on ordering. It is about like the grocery store running out of salt. -Gus-

@Hatley - Ms Patsie - As to that fruit stuff, I should have noted that each is about 1 whole inch wide and tall (round) and smooth - like some sort of large glass marble- not lots of little round pimple things such as are found on mulberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc. By the way - Yesterday was once again, "stinky fish day." (Hope you used lots of pepper on 'em.) -Gus-

@andriaperry - Ms Andrea - I surely was happy that the scooter batteries worked all the way through the ride, even though the rider-weight was double the usual. It IS FUN to roam around on the trails and the pathways when you just never know what you will next be seeing along the way. -Gus-
