There are no 'points' for doing anything in myLot. Your earnings are based entirely on how much other people interact with what you do. Read the Guidelines, Earnings FAQs and the Frequently Asked Questions pages to understand how myLot works.

@yanzalong That was when the earnings program was entirely different and one was paid for one's own actions rather than for the interactions one received from others. Nobody knew exactly how it worked (at least, I suppose that the programmers did, of course) and, in any case, it's hardly of any importance now, but I believe that it was officially confirmed at the time that posting an image was rewarded.
With the current system, however, there is nothing to be gained or lost by posting an image, though if it attracts a few more people to interact with the discussion, then you might count that as a small 'gain'.

It does not translate to extra earnings only as an attention grabber.

Yes, more responses will give extra earning. A picture does attract mylotters to make comments.

no, the only thing it may do is attract more readers which would translate to more earnings but it also may make no difference at all to readers
I very much doubt anyone has collected stats on a discussion earnings with or without a picture
