Cried my Eyes Out of my Head

Our younger son is getting married October 6, as some of you may know. His wedding plans have gone smoothly. Almost everything is done.
We had to choose our mother son wedding dance song. There are so many beautiful songs from which to choose, that I couldn't decide. Each one I listened too made me cry.
Our son suggested one that was meaningful to him. I listened to it several times last night and again this morning, and cried and cried. You should have seen the amount of tissues I went through. It's perfect for us both.
It is "She's Got a Way" by Billy Joel.
My husband just sang it to me, and I cried again.
I told our son that I will not listen to the words during our very special dance together, and that I will not cry. However, he should stuff his tuxedo pockets with tissues just in case I do.

@DianneN you can do both. Post a photo and video. The way I do it is that I post first the link with the video. Then I do edit and add an image and update. That way the photo and the video both come out.

@DianneN You are so right. My daughter decided not to have a big wedding. Instead, she and her new husband went to Los Vegas to be married. I flew over from Tahiti to be with her on this special day. I was a little disappointed in the services there in Los Vegas, but this is what they decided. She said she would rather spend the money on buying a house than on paying for a giant wedding. I guess I can see her point. She did grow up traveling around with me to so many places where I had to work. I think it was a wise choice for her. Not for everyone. I just went to my best friend's wedding a few months back. Had the time of my life there. I like them simple and I also like them big.

@poehere Well, this was to be a small and intimate wedding of about 75 to 100 of our nearest and dearest, but the guest list skyrocketed. Both she and my older son's wife were offered the money instead, but the girls wanted the whole enchilada. Fortunately, my boys make good livings and can afford their own houses. Unlike the over the top wedding our older son had in Manhattan, this will be a bit less formal and not ostentatious. Both sets of parents paid for everything, except my son has paid for a photographer from National Geographic and my future daughter in law insisted on paying the ridiculous sum for her bridal gown. We pay for the honeymoons, rehearsal dinner, flowers, and breakfast at the hotel. Two kids and we're done!
Your daughter was wise, and I hope she bought her house. Does she live in the US?

Thanks so much! I must try my best not to cry, Ann, just because I won't want to ruin my makeup. It will be professionally done, as will my hair. I don't think tear streaked blush and runny mascara would be a keeper in the wedding album. lol

@DianneN You are a cry baby then.
During my wedding, I didn't cry. My parents didn't dry also.
They were so eager to let me marry that's why. I was already 31 when I got married. Here, usually, the girls marry at 25 and above before. But not anymore now though. Generally, career women marry at 30 plus already.

@SIMPLYD So sweet! I didn't cry at my own wedding.. I had just turned 22 and didn't know better. Yes, many marry later now which is better. I started my career a week after my honeymoon and my husband was well on his way in his.
Yes, I turned into a big cry baby!

Now that is an awesome song to be picked. I remember hearing that song way back in the 70's. As a matter of fact, I have the box set with that album in it. I think the box set was a special set and wasn't for sale. I had sold some old baseball cards and I git it. But that is a beautiful song. I know those are happy tears. Good luck to your son and his marriage. Hope you all have the time of your life at the reception.

You have every right to cry, Dianne! That's the little boy you and your husband raised together! And now, he's still that little boy you love so deeply, in a man's body:)

Oh Dianne, you are a sensitive lady and it is okay to cry those happy tears. When my son and I walked together at his wedding I cried all the way to my seat and even harder when he was saying his vows. I was so overjoyed by the fact that he found someone that loved him. He thought he never would. I promised him that one day he would find her.....and he did.
Big hugs to you lady.

You are just as sensitive and emotional as I am. I'm happy for your son that he found such happiness in his life.
I was on the bima with our older son and cried throughout the ceremony. It was bittersweet for me, as I'm sure it was for you.

Better now thank you.
Its about the dog and will tell you another time.
I am very practical and sometimes the ideas do not go down well.
Its all about being and having common sense really.
Anyway tell you another time so that is why I can´t even write anything of my own either.
Take care now.

@DianneN It's a rare thing to find people like you who show so much love to the child or children. I wished I were more like you pray for me that God would put that kind of love in my heart for my 4 adult children. I do love them but not to the degree you love your son and I am convicted about it. Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

@Butchcass4 Aww, thank you so much. Maybe I'm just over the top nuts about our sons. We've had our ups and downs, as any family, but that made our bonds stronger. I'm very sorry, but I am Jewish. I know how religious you are, and it's great to have G-D on our lives, no matter what religion we follow.

@bluesa I'm still working on building up immunity to that song, and will continue up until the wedding. When we practice our dancing, I'll have a better feel about it all.
My husband just laughed and shook his head when I told him I need a larger Judith Leiber bag. He reminded me that they are all tiny. lol
Thank you! We adore that baby of ours. And the older one, too!

I listen to the song several times a day to build up an immunity to it. It's not working, yet. lol I have a beautiful Judith Leiber rhinestone clutch, but it's too tiny to hold many tissues. I may have to buy a larger one. Thank you! I love him to bits and pieces!!!!
