The Battle Between Mind and Heart

How blessed are those few who has chosen careers they are passionate with, at the same time earning a lot of cash because of it. Majority of us though has chosen the fields we are in, not because we want it, but rather, earning money because of it. The struggle in this issue is real. It is common and a real problem of youngsters like me in my own country, and I guess in most nations too. If you choose money over what your heart wants, I believe it would be like marrying a rich person you don't love. You would feel miserable everday of your life, but then financially stable. On the other hand, if you choose the latter, it would be like marrying a poor person you love. You may be happy and in love now, but finances could also get in the way of your relationship. There could also be another barrier between you and your dream job. Intellectual capacity, financial capability and also its availability in your place. Then again, I believe that if you want it enough, passionate about it enough, you will be willing to go through anything just to reach your dreams. To my fellow mylotters, it is never too late. We only have one life, so let us make the most of it.

It would be lovely if we could all have our dream job. Should that not be possible then try to have that passion in life as a hobby at least it would still be a part of our lives.

@bluesa An equilibrium for both what the heart wants and what the mind believes is what we need. That would still be a struggle to achieve, I believe, but not impossible.

I think happiness is more important than any other thing either money or wealth... I would prefer to make decision in accordance to my heart and not money.

I would really like that too. Sometimes though, circumstances force us to choose otherwise

Yes it certainly is not too late ever unless some terrible circumstances restrict. I feel fortunate in the fact that I had work that I loved and also earned a decent living.

You are very blessed and I am very happy for you. I know a lot of people who despite earning much are not happy. Also some who are doing their dream job but also miserable because the pay just isn't enough.

When I grow old, I want to look back at my life and have no regrets and what ifs. I just want to be one happy fulfilled wrinkly lady.

This was a very interesting read. I guess one really would have to ask themselves what true happiness is to them. I would rather be happy and humble then have all the riches in the world. Material and money do not last forever but happiness can. But one has to decide on what happiness means to them. To some happiness is money and to others it is not. I always say.... if you do what you love and love what you do.... you will never work a day in your life! I am a teacher... I have a passion for it, I love it and look forward to teaching my students.... even the challenging ones. Because I enjoy it so much I do not see it as a job... it is a passion. No I do not make astronomical amounts of money... but again I would rather be happy :)

I salute you! I have so much respect for teachers. Not all teachers are like you though. I see it here in my country all the time. As time goes by, passion for teaching is lost because of the miniscule income they have from it. So kudos for you mam!
