It has begun. @Shailabhsonkar tried to warn us and we brushed it off as nothing. We laughed and joked about it. We admitted that we've all become so used to technology ruling our lives that we never give the machines a second thought. But then something like this happens: http://www.in.techspot.com/news/software/facebook-shuts-down-ai-system-after-it-invents-own-language/articleshow/59846739.cms TLDR version and/or for those who are leary of clicking on links: Facebook researchers decided to shut down an AI they invented after it started speaking its own made up language. Yup. Two bots named Bob and Alice had a bizarre conversation with each other after determining that there was no benefit in sticking to their pre-programmed English language! Of course, we can't have the machines developing their own language inside the system so the researchers immediately pulled the plug, saving us all from the evil plans of Bob and Alice. And yet...are we really safe? What happens next time when the researchers aren't able to shut these malicious machines down? So beware next time you plug into the network...because your computer might very well be conspiring against you with your smart-fridge. Your cell phone might be planning a coup with your favorite Redbox Kiosk and your ipad could one day soon be chortling about your upcoming demise with the dvd player... You've been warned!

I do think that people are getting way to dependent on tech and that nothing good can come of AI really. I watched a video of an AI women and it was spooky to me! The most tech I have is this computer and I actually like it that way.

@Genipher I dont have one and people think Im weird but I just dont have the need for one. My husband does have one but that is because he has to drive to work over an hour one way and on I-90 year around. I always worry so he got one for emergencies and to check on me on his breaks as of my health.

@Ithink I'm only thinking of getting one because our oldest child is able to babysit. So if hubby and I go out, I want her to be able to reach us in case of emergency.

Same here. We don't even own cell phones in our family...though I am starting to see the benefit in possibly having one someday.
