What’s Your Humble Thumb?

An ugly and disfigured thumb! That’s all that prevented her from saying she is perfect in looks. She is one of the most beautiful girls in town and she has a great pedicure to go with that darling face and figure, but only one finger is not like how she would want it to be. It was not well formed at birth. So, because of this thumb, she does not show off her hands as much as she would want to and thus holds back in totally “showing off”. I just made this story up (lol) but what is important is the moral and I imagine that this is actually the case with someone or it may be a similar case with many people. I use this as an example for what I’ll be talking about, which is the Humble Thumb Theory.
Let me just start off by saying I do not know if anyone else has made a theory like this or has used this name before. I was inspired to write about this after a conversation with a cousin of mine. We were talking about humility and what makes some of us humble. It is something that I have given much thought to but I have not given this thought a name as my cousin has done. We basically established that there may be many things going on for a person. You may have a great job, a lot of money or blessed with what we say are good looks. It may be a combination of all.
However, there always seem to be something that prevents us from going over the top. Something that holds us back from standing on top of a hill and shouting that we are the best. Something that keeps us down to earth. It may be a physical attribute or something that we have done in life that we regret. It could be anything! Humility is a characteristic people admire. We can be taught to be this way from an early age. Some of us have no choice because of that humble thumb. We do not want to go beyond our self praise limits because at times when this do happen, people WILL point out that “thing” that makes you and I not all that.
Do you know what is your humble thumb?
By now I hope you have thought about what I have written and thought about what’s your humble thumb. As humans, we are not perfect. That is even more reason to be humble and to have respect for the people we come across. You may be a great speaker but there is no reason to laugh at someone who cannot even put two English words together.
We should give thanks for the talents God has given to us and use those talents to glorify Him and to help our fellow men in whatever situation. Some people see themselves as God’s gift to earth and the best thing that the world has ever seen. They, however, do have a humble thumb, but try very hard to hide this. Most times it is really obvious. Nevertheless, people most times do not take kindly to persons who walk with their heads in the clouds.
So, that is the humble thumb theory. Do you get it? If yes, what is your humble thumb? Do you have a coco-cola bottle shape, but have knocked knees? Are you tall, dark and handsome, but have a gigantic gut? Are you the great writer but have a lisp tongue? I know mine (I won’t tell you though lol). Find out yours, stay calm and be humble.
