Count nutrition, not calories!!

I feel I am becoming more and more health conscious as days pass. Few months back, i will eat all the junk that came my way, now before eating, my mind automatically scans the nutritional value For example, i will prefer pure natural protein over a low protein energy bar. I have completely stopped buying the low calorie, low fat, diet variants. And i feel I am doing the right thing. My body, my skin, my hair agree on it!! So, I have stopped counting calories, and started counting nutrition!!

Yeah, and some how my mind has start rejecting the unhealthy ones, i no more crave for them. Though eat them at times when there is no other option.

I count both because I cannot resist certain food items like butter and ghee, so I have to cut down somewhere else or increase my activity level. So far I am ok, managing to maintain and lose some weight as well

I feel butter and ghee have good nutritional values. It's much better than eating cookies or breads. :)

It is commendable on your part, if you are able to control yourself so as not to indulge in binge or mindless eating. If you take such items which are healthy in terms of their nutritious value then it will be good for your health and skin.

Yes, it has brought the view i had for food. And this doesn't make it boring, i still eat tasty delicious dishes, only making a point that they have some nutritional value than just the taste.

It is important to follow up what our mind says. If you can do then really good for you. I too don't eat junk. But I am not that much caring on nutrition.

@shaynas How you calculate nutrition on what you eat?

@Sreekala I don't calculate it, i just see that i eat natural and foods rich in nutrients, like i add a variety of veggies in my meal, i eat more fruits, i prefer a sprout sandwich over a chutney sandwich etc. Just try to add something nutritious in my every meal. It's not that i keep a chart of everything i eat :)

Personally, I don't like meat as much as I love chicken, vegetarian and fish. But, we should be aware of high calories

Chicken is healthier than meat, isn't it? I meant, just counting low calories, we should not ignore the nutrition.

@shaynas I think also chicken is healthier than meat. Nutrition has certain effects on health. But, at least we should be more dynamic, active in order to get rid of fat.

I agree. When I reached my mid 40's I have become so conscious of my health. I want to be healthy so I can still live longer.
