What's wrong with tattoos anyway?

Why are tattoos still so poorly seen by people in general? Why so much prejudice in the professional field? Why culturally a tattoo can be such a bad thing? I just don't get it. This all sounds to me like a very small kind of thinking. What do you think about this?

I never understood the negativity people had to tattoos. I've heard people say it's because they're criminals or don't have a job but to get tattoos you have to have money so that's just a thought that doesn't fit and to be a tattoo artist you have to be extremely talented with art so i dont see why they're seen as poorly.

Right. Have you ever seen that photo of the doctor who is covered in tattoos except for his hands, feet, neck, and face. When he has his suit on you can't tell that he has any tattoos at all but there are some people out there that if they knew he had tattoos wouldn't go to him. For me, as long as he is a good doctor and knows what he is doing than I could care less what he looks like. We had a doctor in my town that didn't have the best bedside manner and a lot of people hated him because of it. He was an amazing doctor though. He is the reason my dad has a usable left arm because other doctors wanted to just amputate it. I don't care how mean he was. He was amazing at his job because of the years he had been doing it and in the places, he had been to learn what he needed.

I'm 63 and when I was growing up nobody but the "shady" people had tattoos. We were taught that if a person has a tattoo he/she has probably committed crimes, been in prison, or is generally just low class and suspicious. Tattoos were just becoming popular when I had my sons and I passed along the attitude since that had been my experience. Now, nearly 30 years later, everyone gets tattoos but you have those people aged 30 and up that have been culturally prejudiced against tattoos. I think that's the reason that there is such a poor image of tattoos. Because they started out being a trait of shady people like bank robbers, Hell's Angels, and the like. I'm sure that in another generation no one will care if you have a tattoo or not.

It depends upon ones views. I personally don't like to draw anything on my body , nothing offensive.

I don't find anything wrong with tattoos. Yes, some of them can be distasteful but it isn't my body so I don't care. As long as they know how to do their job than I don't care what their appearance is. I feel like it is only seen as a negative thing in America. I know there are some places in the world even though they are far less developed than the U.S. who see tattoos as a social status or defines their job, etc.

there is nothing wrong with having tattoo because it is individual likes and trend. However, if the community has the prejudice thoughts and taboo about tattoo, i5 is the culture and misunderstanding that had to be educated by the society. In our country, anyone had a tattoo is considered as a gangster.

I have nothing against tattoos, the only thing keeping me from getting one is the fact that I'm changing all the time, and what I cherish now I might despise next year.

We don't mind tattoos at all. These are usually an artistic expression and some are very nice.
