After the Rain - Sometimes a person has to take a chance - a chance on the weather, a chance on the electric scooter, and a chance on the digital camera. This time, taking all of those chances turned out to be a good thing. I had been visiting that dry gully back behind the development's little recreation building month after month since moving here to this forested development. Until this day I had never seen a drop of water in the gully, even though it is a deep one and protected from drying out by lots of shade from the many oak and pine trees that line the gully's high banks. Today, following a big rain storm, there was the water. The ground around the gully is not all that covered with grass, but I took a chance of rolling the electric mobility scooter closer to the gully. I hoped that the rain had not made a mud pie out of the ground over which the scooter would have to roll. All went well, and roll was what the scooter did without any problem. I rather well like that gully with some water in it. All that was missing were the deer that live in the woods nearby. They probably had plenty of water from the rainstorm that came to the deer in their forest and so were not thirsty for gully water. Anyway, "my" gully surely does look better with some water flowing in it than it does without the water. Image: Water in the Gully - Gus Kilthau

Gullies are meant to have water in them I think. I can imagine this is a lovely area to visit regularly.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - Here is a pic of the recreation building behind the big swimming pool, plus a couple of slides for the kids, plus lots of park grass and trees.

@Ceerios I keep waiting to see deer on these French roads but we've only seen one so far. I should be careful that I wish for as we don't want to hit one.

@sueznewz2 - Ms Susan - Just think how much nicer that gully might look if it had lots of catch-worthy fish swimming in it. -Gus-

@sueznewz2 - Ms Susan - Many possibilities and some certainties, the latter to include having to "clean" the fish you catch before cooking and eating them. -Gus-

@Hatley - Ms Patsie - You are correct. The water makes it look like a watercourse should look. Hey - I hope your day was a good day today. -Gus-

@marlina - When a person or when the ground is dry, water is the way to go. -Gus-

It's so good you took a change today Gus. I am sure the gully was happy to be there for you. Water flowing in rivers, gullies and streams is so peaceful to watch. Keep rolling along and don't get stuck in the mud. Sure would hate to see you call a tow truck to pull you out.

@poehere - Ms Ann - That gully never did tell me of a welcome for my visit, but evidently it removed the water from the ground above such that a tow truck did not have to be summoned. -Gus-

@Ceerios This is wonderful Gus. Here is a bit of a different story to say the least. They issued a freeze warning for French Polynesia. You are lucky to have the sun when all we have is cold, wind, and rain today on our little tropical paradise.

@poehere - Ms Ann - The sun was among the missing at the time I snapped the photograph of the gully with its water. I used the photo editor to brighten things, and that worked fairly well. -Gus-

There is a gully at the bottom of the ravine that is my back yeard. It is forested so I can't see the water but after a rain I can hear the water on the rocks in the gully and I love the sound.

@PainsOnSlate - Hi "Paints" - Sure enough. The music of running water can often sound better than music from an orchestra. -Gus-
