Another New Word For Me / myLot

I always like to read for about a half an hour every morning while I enjoy a cup of coffee. And I read all sorts of things. I have at least 100 books to choose from and this morning I chose a good book, I think. Do you know anyone that is a QUIDNUNC? What in the world is that? It’s a busybody: a person eager to know the latest news and gossip. Small town barbers and beauticians are often quidnuncs. A lot of gossiping goes on in a Barber Shop or Beauty Shoppe, usually. I have an acquaintance that is definitely a quidnunc. She calls me sometimes and tells me the latest news on everyone and wants to know what’s going on in my life. I’m very careful about what I tell her, because I know that she will be quick to spread it around. Do you know anyone like that?

Yes, I know many people that I would consider a quidnunc. Like you said though you have to be careful about what you tell them. Sometimes I also find it hard to believe some of the things they are telling me.

I know what you mean. This acquaintance of mine seems to know all the latest news, like who's in the hospital, who's getting a divorce, who's having a baby, etc. She must just stay on the phone and gather all the "gossip" she can find.

@IreneVincent I bet that's exhausting for her! Sounds like they are little wrapped up in everyone's life. They need to take time and enjoy their own life for a little!
