What If You Live Forever?

Silly question, but I heard it in Fox cable show teaser about the blue print of the future that said "what if you live forever?" The show is title Year Million if I'm not mistaken. But can it really happen in the future? That we can live forever. Okay, we know there's the genetic engineering these brainy people are doing. They are fixing our genes so we won't get old and no more diseases and illnesses. In short it can lead to forever young. Maybe the right question would be, "are you in favor to live endlessly and no more death?" As I see, those people who enjoy the luxury and wellness of life, the famous and riches are really wanted to live like this. But the poor people, heart broken, always crying because of trials and problems, all they want is to end their life earlier.

That's a serious questions to ponder. Maybe in the future it should be made optional to live forever.

@PaigeMay I think living forever in this world is tiring and exhausting. My answer would be no. Many things will also be compromise if this happen, just imagine your daughters and sons and grand children and grand grandchildren will not get old and will look just like you forever. Earth will be over-populated. More population would be more stressful again.

@ilocosboy As I said,I have never thought about it.Naturally no one,if they are not in extreme pain or distress, wants to die.I'm not an exception.I want to live, and live for ever, but life is uncertain.I don't know what future has in store for me.It is therefore that I can neither say "yes",nor "no".

I am not sure whether this is a good thing. Try to imagine your face has many wrinkles but you will never die. Even if you have a young face, but it is sad since you keep seeing people who you love die one by one.

I want to live forever even if life is sometimes difficult and depressing. But people rest in peace when they die. We need to get a peaceful rest for our soul

I don't think science will ever allow us to live forever on this earth. But, I believe that every soul will live forever in heaven or be eternally separated from God.

I feel then greed will multiply. Now some accumulate even when they know they can take nothing away from here; so easy to imagine the feeding frenzy if they live on and on. It can well happen even those who are sure heaven is waiting for them will stay on - just in case! siva

If everyone's standard of life improved and we all lived forever, I think we would have to inhabit a new planet because there is no room on Earth for so many immortals.

Like the movie "Age of Adeline" when she stopped aging all together. Or Tom Hanks in "The Green Mile." Eventually you would outlive all your friends and loved ones and be all alone. I would not want that fate
